Chapter Seven
A DealThe teen twisted and writhed beneath the harness binding him to the large, cold metal slab. A hand held a cloth over his mouth and nose and doused his head in water, and he attempted to gasp against the cloth, to no avail. His lungs burned and his head felt light from lack of oxygen.
Delirium set in, colours danced across his vision in vivid succession along with black splotches.
For a moment, he was home. At Anteiku, with Touka, Hinami, and Hide. Oh Hide...
He could see him, his smile so vibrant, eyes alight with a teasing glee, arms folded behind his head as they traversed the university campus.
"Hey Kaneki!" Hide's voice, he was calling to him, grinning, waving him toward the coffee shop called 'Anteiku.
"Hurry it up man! You r going slower than a snail!" A smile slipped onto his face, a true, honest smile and he slowly approached him.
Hide placed both his hands on his shoulders, his grin melting away to a dull look.
"You know..." His face seemed to crack, sliding apart to showcase the grotesque partially rotten inside of his head.
He still spoke.
"Rabbits die of loneliness."
