Hey you guys, it's been a while, I know, and im sorry, unplaned Hiatus basically. I've been reading alot to try and pick up on some things for my writing, and hopefully you guys can see some improvements on some things. I'm not naming chapters until the end of the book or several capters later. Thank you for sticking around, you guys are amazing.
Re-cap (since it's been a while)- Cory and Uni meet up with Nick by accident, Cory is left with a theory that explains Nick's past behavior. The three of them then head of to Ash and Tommy. Upon reaching the two, Tommy punches Nick, thus knocking him out, Cory explains his theory about an implanted personality that is agreesive. Everyone gathers wood for a fire, taking shifts to watch over Nick. Shortly after sunrise... Nick wakes up.
"He's awake."
Those 2, simple words startled the entire group.
A new day was begining, a problem tasked to them before the first signs of light. The loving, caring friend that the group cherished was turning hostile.
His actions radiated with anger, his words laced with venom, his eyes... oh his eyes, they were the worst part.
His brown eyes projected so much hate... violence.. that fear quickly spread to the friends.
Never once had they imagined, not even in their worst nightmares, that he could be so terribly awful to them.
To others, he might have seemed disturbed by something, but to the people who know him, he was vicious.
Everyone sat up, eager to find out which side of their friend had woken.
If Cory's theory was correct- how he oh so wished was wrong in that very moment- then Nick would be agreesive to them all once again.
If he was wrong, Nick would be his normal self. Or possibly his theory may need to be adjusted.
If Nick is being controlled, then the personality switch might be controlled too, not random, Cory thought.
While being propped up on one elbow, Nick was looking back at all his friends, eyeing Tommy the most. After a moment longer of staring, he sighed, siting up and rubbing a hand down his face.
"You punched me?"
"That's what it seemed like to me, unless you wanna call it a fist bump to your nose."
Nick groaned, pinching the bringe of his nose, a sting of pain going across his face. Everyone's eyes were still watching Nick cautiously, waiting for something to happen.
He looked back at the others, feeling like a rat under a observation glass.
"...Guys, is something wrong?"
Finally Cory, snapping out of it, said something.
"No, Nick, nothing's wrong. Nothing at all. We were just waiting for you to wake up." It wasn't all a lie, they were waiting for him to wake up, but something most definetly was wrong.
"I hate to be the one to break up the 'Good Morning's', but we need something for food. There's another building close to the wall. It might be a good idea to see what's there."
As if on cue, Uni's stomach let out a growl, loud enogh to be heard by everyone. A few nods came from Uni and Tommy, Cory getting up, ready to scavange the building already.
"She's right, we won't be able to do anything if we're malnourished. Leave the fire going, in worst case we get lost, find the fire, regroup here if we get seperated."
They began their silent walk to the place in mind, Ashlie leading to where she last laid eyes on the building.
Nothing interesting happend on the way, a few birds chirping, a squirrel making a run for a nearby tree, and the occasional rat running by. Everything looked so unkept, making it obvious that no one had lived on the property for years.
The building was now in range, its small structure only a few meters away. Cory moved up to the door, pushing lightly against it with his shoulder. It creaked open, wood on the frame splintering as the door rubbed against it. A few more light pushes and the door opened fully, revealing a dark, open room.
The building, which seemed more like a shack, only consisted of three rooms. The first being a connecting center for the other two rooms. Moving to the left into the doorway brought a storage type room, boxes lined the walls, cabinets on the far end wall.
Steping in, Cory opened the lid to a box, picking up a piece of fruit from inside.
Looking to the others, he smiled. "Grab what you can get. Uni, go into the other room, see if there's any bags to put this food into." Uni nodded, pushing past Tommy to go searching. The rest piled in, each going to their own box and grabbing the contents from inside.
"Holy shit, there's clothing in here too." Tommy gasped, quickly pulling out an article of clothing, before speaking again.
"There's a Trench Coat in here guys!" He grinned, slung on the coat, and turned for the others to look. Ashlie laughed, finding it ridiculous. Cory, rolled his eyes, though still finding comfort in the peace. He just hoped that peace would last.
"Cory... there's weapons in this box. Guns, spears, knives, and even some axes." Cory turned, moving quickly to the box Ashlie was looking through.
"We could use the axe's and knives. Not much use for a gun around here. Grab a hunting knife, all of you, me and T-dog will take an axe each." He reached in, grabbing a stone handled axe for himself, passing a simillar one to Tommy. Each of them reached in for a knife, grabbing a sheath for them as well.
"Guys! I think you need to come see this!"
"Uni! What is it? Is something wrong?!" Cory reached the room first, rushing to stand next to Uni, who was in the door way to another smaller room.
"Look in here, I don't think we're completely alone." Cory stepped into the room, feeling Nick up against his back, desperate to get a look into the room. To say the room gave Cory the chills was an understatement.
Inside was a table, placed perfectly in the center, a cloth stained red covering the top. On the walls were different limbs, hands, fingers, arms, even a head, all stacked on shelves. On another wall multiple types of weapons hanged there, some with dried blood, others polished clean.
"What the hell is this place?!" Nick, who's behind Cory becomes frantic. His senses are on edge, goosebumps covering his body. He had been quiet for most of the time, feeling the tension from his friends, knowing it was directed to him.
A noise could be heard from the other room. It was the door, opening and closing. Foot steps pounding their way into the next room. Everyone froze. There was nothing they could do, no hiding spots. Tommy looked around frantically. His eyes landing on the corner of the room, a wooden closet. He quickly sprinted to it, being as quiet as possible. He opened one of the doors, jumping in and closing the door behind him. His breathing deafening to his ears.
The footsteps were quieter, slower now. They drew nearer to room that everyone occupied. Breaths became labored, heart beats grew stronger.
No one could tell that the steps had stopped, and no one new that a figure rested behind them.
"Hmmm.." A quiet voice came from behind them, too quiet to be heard over their own heartbeats.
Then... a voice spoke out.
"She's here."
