The trees were burning with crimson in gold, clouds black of ash flew in the crowded the air. I swatted a few out of my face, disentangling them from my matted hair. I wiped the beads of sweat, brewing on my forehead.
"Amriel!"
I heard cries but they were muffled by the crackling of the flames.I shuffled through them,my feet danced across the burning leaves. The more I shuffled the louder they got, and the quicker my feet moved. I had to get her, before they did. The image of her being tied in ropes, brandished, and sent to some obscure place, like a slave, flashed through my mind. I wished that upon nobody, especially my sister.
There it was again, her cries. They were dimming, and so was my hope.
"Amriel!" I called out repeatedly I called following the sound of her cries, that was getting quieter and quieter. My heart pounded in my ears, as the tears began to run down my face. The cries had stopped. My feet pounded the ground, eyes searching for any sign of her anywhere. Nothing, it was hopeless. The flames began to close in around me, and I was sure that I had failed.
It was then (then) that,I fell to my knees, tears clouding my vision, before evaporating off my skin.
"Amriel!" I screamed. "Amriel Please! Amriel!"
Silence. I grabbed her unibat stuffie out of my satchel, hugging it tight against my chest. I sat on my bottom, rocking on my heels, feeling the cold draft of death waft over me.
"Levan!"
I looked up to see my father. His face sweaty, dirty, and covered in ash. In his hands, he held something wrapped in cloth. He let go of it, aiming it towards me. With is he shot out two blasts of raging water, taking out the fire around me, taking out the fire around me.
"Levan come on! We have to go now!" He reached out a hand. I hesitated for a moment before grabbing it. He slung me onto his back, running as fast as he could.I tucked my head into his shoulder, looking over at the bundle of cloth he held. Out of it peeked little strands of red hair, her face like father's was dirty, but it was her. Amriel.
