Chapter 5: Sick Day

Y/n turned off her alarm she didn't want to be late for Toby's appointment. Y/n started to shake Toby.
"Toby come on wake up!" Y/n said
Toby got up but he started to cough hard. Y/n didn't like the sound of that...
"Y/n I don't feel good..." Toby said rather hoarse. Y/n got up off the bed and got the outfit she prepared for Toby and herself last night. Y/n gave Toby the outfit and she left to change in the bathroom. When Y/n got out of the bathroom Toby had his clothes on but he was still laying down in the bed. Y/n picked him up and took him to the couch in the living room. Y/n put her hand on Toby's forehead and it was very hot and by this point she knew that he was sick. Y/n went to grab his shoes from the basket and put them on him. Y/n put on her own shoes and started to worry for Toby. Y/n picked up Toby and went outside to put him in the car. Y/n went back inside and grabbed her purse and phone. Y/n locked the door and went back to the car. Y/n buckled up Toby and herself and drove off. Toby looked outside the window and coughed around every three minutes. Toby never gets sick it was very rare for him to be sick. After some time they arrived at the vet. They went inside and Y/n went to the front desk and checked in. Y/n and Toby sat in the chairs and Toby's head fell on Y/n's shoulder. Someone came through the door and Y/n looked at her.
"Toby?" The woman said.
Y/n and Toby got up and followed the woman to one of the rooms. They went inside and the woman said,
" The doctor will come in a little bit so for now you can sit down and be alone for a bit."
Y/n sat on one of the chairs and Toby sat on the bed. The whole five minutes was quiet except for Toby's coughing. The doctor came in and Y/n smiled it was a friend she hasn't seen in a few months.
"Hey Sage!" Y/n said
"Hello Y/n and Toby" Sage said with a smile. Toby hated Sage's smile, hair, face and glasses so Toby frowned.
"What brings you two here today" Sage said
"Well I was going to come for a check up for Toby but he got sick today" Y/n said
"Okay thats alright" Sage said
After a couple questions Sage finished typing the answers to his questions that he asked. Sage got his stethoscope and checked Toby's heart. Sage got his other doctor tools and kept on checking Toby's body to make sure nothing too bad was happening to his body. Y/n was reading the news on her phone and not paying attention to Sage and Toby. Sage took Toby's temperature and the thermometer read 100.8°F.
"Y/n do remember anything that Toby did that could of made him sick?" Sage asked
"Not really he was acting perfectly fine this and last week." Y/n said
Sage took his clipboard and wrote some things down.
"There is some medicine to help but if this goes on for another day or two call me" Sage said.
Sage handed the paper to Y/n that he was writting on and Y/n put the paper in her pocket. Sage got close to Y/n and whispered in her ear
"Its been five months last time we agreed to give Toby two flu shots."
"I forgot i'm sorry!" Y/n said quickly
"We have to do it know before you two leave." Sage responded
"Okay thats alright" Y/n said
"I will be back try to get him ready" Sage said.
Sage left the room and Y/n looked at Toby and Toby was watching them the whole time and he didn't look happy. After three or more minutes Sage came back with another nurse and two needle shots. Toby saw them and froze he looked at Y/n and she was looking at Sage frowning, she knew what was about to happen.
"Toby we are going to give you some flu shots but you need it or you will get super sick" Y/n said
Toby tried to get up but Y/n got him Toby didn't want to do this he hated needles. Sage got out needle one and grabbed Toby's arm, he lifted up the sleeve and was about to inject him but Toby pulled away. Y/n and the other nurse began to hold Toby down. Toby was screaming and crying he didn't like this. Toby tried to move again but he couldn't they got him. The needle got closer and closer to his arm and Sage injected the needle into Toby's arm Toby screamed more and more his heart was aching. Sage put down needle one down and put an green band aid on his arm. Sage picked up needle two and lifted up Toby's other sleeve. Toby escaped Y/n's and the nurse's grip and ran out of the room. The nurses saw this and they ran after Toby. They caught him and put him back in the room where everyone was waiting. The other nurses held Toby to the table bed and Sage lifted up the other sleeve and injected needle two in Toby's other arm. Toby had tears streaming down his face that made Y/n feel really bad. Sage put a blue band aid on Toby's arm.
"There you are done here's a red sucker" Sage said while holding out the piece of candy. Toby took it and continued to cry how he hated Sage. Toby got up and put out his arms to Y/n. Y/n picked up Toby and he wrapped his arms and legs around her while she picked up her things.
"Thank you! I'm sorry if Toby was a problem." Y/n said
"Your welcome and Toby was not a problem." Sage responed
When Y/n left the room Toby sticked out his tounge to Sage but Sage just smiled. When Y/n and Toby went to the car she bucked up Toby. Y/n went in the drivers seat and left the vet. After some time Y/n and Toby arrived home.
"Toby go to bed" Y/n said. Y/n got five waters,heating pad and a fan and put it in her room where Toby was. Y/n the waters on the night stand that was right by the bed. She plugged in the fan and let the air hit Toby's face to cool him down. Y/n unplugged her phone charger and plugged the heating pad and put it on Toby's back. Y/n opened the window a little for some fresh air. Y/n went in Toby's dresser and pulled out a black tank top and dark blue sweat pants.
"Toby go put this on" Y/n said
Toby sat up and grabbed the clothes while Y/n got out her work clothes and went to the bathroom. Y/n came out of the bathroom brushing her hair. After she was done she put the brush back in the bathroom and went to the kitchen. Y/n grabbed the medicine like she was suppose to do and took it with a spoon. Y/n went back to her room and got out the medicine and poured it on the spoon.
"Toby open your mouth" Y/n said
"I don't want too...." Toby said
"It will make you feel better" Y/n said. Toby didn't do what she said so she opened his mouth and put the spoon inside his mouth. Toby kept on coughing and grabbed his water and drank it. After that Toby laid his head back down and closed his eyes. Y/n got on her knees and put her arms on the bed then looked at Toby. Toby's hair was a mess, his eyes were closed and his mouth was slightly open. Y/n moved the hair from his head and kissed his forehead.
"Sleep well Toby" Y/n whispered. She scratched behind his ears and then left the room. Y/n put on her shoes and grabbed her things and left the house. Once Y/n left Toby smiled and he felt his stomach twist and he knew that she really cares for him then it started raining....

~ 8 Hours later~

Toby woke up and heard the rain. "Y/N!" Toby called out.
Then Y/n opened the door and looked right at Toby.
"What do you need?" She asked
"What time is it?" Toby asked
"Its 7:31" Y/n said
"Okay thanks" Toby said.
After five minutes Y/n came back with some food. Toby sat up and looked at and wondered what it was.
"Toby i'm feeding you" Y/n said
Toby smiled he liked this side of Y/n. While Toby was wiping his mouth with his sleeve Y/n said,
"Toby you are sick so you need a bath okay"
Toby nodded and laid back down. Y/n turned on the water in the bath tub and got Toby clothes and a towel. After the bath was ready Toby undressed himself and sat in the bath tub. Y/n came in and started washing Toby. Then a few moments later Y/n turned off the shower and dryed Toby with the towel. Toby got dressed while Y/n cleaned up the water with the towel. Y/n watched tv until it was 9:24 then she got pillows and blankets and slept on the couch. Toby was already in bed asleep smiling and having dreams about Y/n.
