He's the boy your mother whispers about on the streets and he passes by. The boy who your father said was dangerous, and to stay far away from. He the boy who's misunderstood.

He's also a boy who has given up on finding someone who'd truly love him for who he was.

Eren Clermont. All his life, he's been viewed as the troubled, dangerous kid. He grew up in a home where watching his father beat his mother over minuscule things was a regular occurrence. He grew up in a home, where getting beat when his mother wasn't there to step in the way, was something he grew accustomed to. When his mother found the strength to leave, taking him with her, he didn't know how to act, because he had never known anything else. Without any of their belongings, and no money, they lived on the streets. Somehow she managed to find a job, earning enough money to get a small home, and could afford to send him to school, a novelty in his eyes. As the days went by, his mother's mental state started to deteriorate. It was bound to happen, one day she snapped, the pressure of being a single mother and the memories of her husband took over. Her paranoia flew out the window, and took all her care for others with it.

She became just like her husband.

She may not have been as physically strong as he was, but her use of her surroundings and her high level of intelligence made up for that plenty. She may have been mentally unstable, but her use of familiar words and memories made it seem like she was still there, even if just a little.
