the hallway had always been dark and quiet in the early hours of the morning. but this particular morning was different. something was off, and sunan could feel it. his stomach twisted and churned as he laid wide awake on his bed; his eyes glued to the white ceiling. no matter how many times he tried to think of the possible reasoning for him feeling on edge, it only earned him more pain.
he tried closing his eyes countless time, trying to at least get even a second of sleep in, but it was no use. he couldn't rest without finding the answer. the answer to this anxious feeling.
sure, he had never been able to sleep properly on any normal day, but again, this was different. it felt as though something was going to get him.. snatch him in the middle of the night and swallow him whole. he was not only anxious, but frightened and on edge.
sunan let out a long exhale before pulling his blankets further up, practically covering the entirety of his head and body. he closed his eyes tightly, the warmth of the thick blanket hugged him. his mind pictured many colours, all swirling around on a white canvas. it was beautiful.
after only a couple of moments in peace, his thoughts were soon interrupted by a loud bang which sent him awake. he threw off the blankets, the cool air kissing his skin as he sat up straight and adjusted his gaze to the bedroom door.
there was faint light peaking through the bottom of the door. it sent a shiver up sunan's spine.
who, other than himself, would be awake at this time in the morning? he thought hard but couldn't come up with an answer.
he could hear foot steps, small foot steps, heading down the hall. they got louder and louder, just like his racing heart.
sunan didn't even realize that he was holding his breath.
there were muffled voices that he couldn't identify, the only few words that he could make out from the low voice outside was "hurry and get him out here, before we wake the others.".
at this point, the small boy's eyes were glued right open. he felt light headed.
he quickly turned his head, "yunru.." he called out, barely in a whisper, to the sleeping figure curled up in the bed next to his.
there was no response so he tried once more, this time in a more desperate than ever, "yunru.. please.. wake u-" sunan was cut off by the creaking of the door knob turning. it felt as though his heart stopped and the walls began to collapse in on him. sunan sat there frozen.
the door squeaked open and without even realizing, sunan managed to lay back down and throw his safety blanket over him, pretending he was asleep.
he heard multiple foot steps making their way to his bed side.
"li yunru." one of the deep voices whispered, it sounded as if the man was shaking the youngest in the room lightly in order to wake him from his sleep. it seemed to work because the boy let out a tired hum in response.
"we need you to come with us. don't ask any questions, we will explain everything to you in a little." the other voice which seemed more warm and welcoming spoke.
without fighting it yunru sat up, rubbing his eyes and grabbing his glasses from on the night stand that was placed in between the two mattresses. "can i tell jungshin where i am going? i think he would be worried if he woke up and i wasn't there." yunru's rough morning voice sent a shiver down sunan's back.
"we can't have that happen and don't worry, you will be back before they wake up."
once the door clicked closed sunan removed the blanket from over his head and looked over to the bed beside him.
he was alone.

A/N why hello there everyone, it's been a while hasn't it.
i'm sorry this is a sucky start!
i'm also sorry for keeping you all waiting, but i just needed a little break. a lot of things had happened and i just wasn't in the best state to be writing. but i worked really hard and i've come a far way from where i was at a couple of months ago. i am back for now and hopefully i can be more active with this af! i'm happy you all were patient with me.
