Love, Life and Death (Sequel to Trapped in a mall)
Chapter 1
Rachael's POV
I was dead- that were the force pulling on me, and I restrained it refusing to go to the afterlife and I won but I couldn't go back to my body since I was shot in the heart. So now I'm stuck in the middle of life and death...
I watched as three cleaners, all dressed in light blue overalls with John State Shopping Centre written in bold on the back, held the murderer to the floor while he just stared at my unmoving body wrapped in Ash's arms.
Another two cleaners tried to prise Ash away from my dead body, but each time they did he fought back. As he refused to leave me while staring into my empty open green pebbled eyes with his own teary eyes. Pain was written all over his face as he gazed down at me, well my body anyway, tears falling down his face and each tear that strolled down his beautiful face was a stab to my ghostly heart. Finally they just gave up and watched him as he cradled me with a pained face, obviously the poor innocent cleaners are never going to forget what happened here today, the expression scarred for life.
I fell to the floor, taking in everything around me but mostly Ash's beautiful heartbroken face. It was all wrong, everything. The pain that filled the air, Ash's tears, my motionless body, the cleaners disbelieving and tortured faces, the shotgun lying motionless on the floor, me kneeling just feet away from all of them while there oblivious to my presence and the fact that I can see everything, yet I cannot feel the cold marble floor beneath my knees.
Eventually the sound of faint sirens reached us but no-one moved, not even a muscle. After the cleaners had got my murderer securely trapped on the floor and gave up trying to budge my heartbroken Ash silence broke out as everyone seemed to just stare at my paling body.
Then as the sirens got louder then came a sound of many screeching tires, everybody's eyes all moved to the dozen police officers ran into the mall wearing bullet proof vests and holding handguns. All except one, Ash never even once glanced away from my stone green eyes.
"EVERYBODY FREEZE- NO ONE MOVE!"Police officers screamed as they all swarmed in.
Around six swarmed around the criminal on the floor, five began moving the cleaners to one side and one went over to me and Ash. On the officers say so the last cleaner let he the scum go and joined the rest of the cleaners. Then four officers stayed put pointing the gun at him while the other two forced him to his feet and handcuffed him, whilst the officer closest to me and Ash looked at me and then at Ash with pure pity before walking over to us and resting his hand on Ash's shoulder.
"Come on son," he murmured to Ash, "There's nothing you can do, let her go so we can send the forensics in. Help us bring her justice." Ash was quite for a while as he just carried on staring at me-that-was-no-longer-me, then in a weak and croaky voice he finally spoke,
"As long as it sends that bastard down, she deserves justice... it wasn't meant for her, it was me the bullet was for... it was me he wanted dead... but she got in the way...it should be me not her."
With that he broke down in sobs as the police officer looked upon him with sorrow, for a while the police officer stayed quiet. Then finally spoke up,
"Come on son just let us do our job."
Unwillingly Ash let me go, carefully setting me down on the floor like I was as a fragile doll. Before being lead out of the mall and to an ambulance by the officer.
A paramedic with long straight blonde hair and tanned skin, sat him down in the ambulance and began checking him over, she shined a light in his eyes, checked his pulse and breathing while other paramedics checked over the cleaners. While Forensic Teams filed into the mall and began taking pictures, putting markers down to mark evidence.
