Chapter 2

Rachael’s POV

I watched as Ash and the police officer got into the police car and gently drove away. I didn’t want to be left behind, especially not here, and before I knew it I was floating above the car.

After a short while we were starting up at big black electric gates that I recognised and hated. The driver of the car wound his window down and pressed the intercom right next to the car,

“May I help you?” My mother’s voice said in a polite manner a few seconds later.

“It’s the police, may we come in?” The driver asked. My mother never replied, instead a buzzing sounded and the gates began to open.

I followed the car up the drive, looking at the big house in which I used to live. I never realised before but the entire house screams, ‘I’m rich- I’m better than you!’ I hated it but it suits my family perfectly, my father and brother especially. I found that I was glaring at the house, hating it more each second. It wasn’t a house- it was a prison in which I was held in my entire life... well not anymore.

The police and Ash were already at the door and the door flew open revealing my father, a tall and well built man dressed in a navy suit with a white shirt and blue tie. His black hair neatly combed, his moustache emphasising the frown on his lips and his blue eyes staring intently at the officers. My mother was stood behind him, wearing black trousers and a loose cream blouse. Her blonde hair was in loose curls making her pale face stand out even more, her red lips open and her face showing worry.

“Yes officers, may we help you?” My father spoke in his deep manly voice.

“We’re here regarding your daughter- Rachael, may we come in?”

“Of course,” my mother spoke up, leading the way through the ever so familiar hallway into the ever so familiar living room.

In the living room, sat on the sofa was my brother, he was watching TV and eating crisps. He wore Henley’s dark jeans and a dark green Henley’s top, his long black hair gelled up to a point and his blue eyes glued to the TV. There sat the blue-eyed boy.

My mother turned the TV off by the remote and my brothers eyes glared at her,

“I was watching that!” He snapped.

“Oh shut up will you!” I was gobsmacked- my mother had never raised her voice or spoke to my brother like that. My father opened his mouth as if to have a go at her but one of the police officers spoke first,

“Maybe we should all sit down.”

Reluctantly my mother and father joined my brother on the sofa, while the 2 officers sat down on the sofa opposite, me and Ash remained stood at the door, un-noticed and observing.

“So what’s she done? Always been trouble that one since the minute she was born,” My father said venomously. Typical.

“I’m afraid she’s been involved in an incident at the mall,” The police explained.

“What was she doing at the mall?! I banned her from shopping!” My father fumed.

“Is that all you care about?!” Ash shouted angrily at my father from the doorway, gaining a glare from my father and my brother.

“Is she okay?” My mother panicked.

“I’m so sorry...  She’s dead.” My mother screamed as my father and brother froze. My mother’s cry hurt to hear, even though I hated my mother at times, she was the only one who actually loved me and I wanted nothing more than to rush over to her and comfort her, but I couldn’t move.
