“Come on, Mac, it’s only a party, and everyone will be there, don’t punk out before you even get there.” Ava my best friend said.

“But parties aren’t my thing. People get drunk, fight—“

“NO! This isn’t the time to be blabbering about what happens, just try on what I bought you, do your hair and makeup, and let’s go. Mike will be here any minute. “

I sigh. “Fine”

Reluctantly, I got into the mini denim skirt and the tight black sleeveless blouse, and black pumps. Than Ava did my makeup, and straightened my hair. When she finished I looked in the full length mirror in Ava’s room and was surprised to see the person standing before me… was, well, me. My tanned legs were showing and went perfect with my blouse and pumps. The makeup made look grown, But appealing all at once.

“Wow” was all I said.

“That’s the spirit.” Ava said, smiling big. She also looked alluring. She wore a tight, short, red Maxi dress with five-inch red heels, which went perfect with her thick, long, blonde hair, and fair colored skin. Unlike me, I had thick brown hair, which Ava said made my blue eyes pop and I have to work it. Typical Ava.

Outside, a horn beeped.

“Ooh, Mike’s here!” Ava squealed, grabbing my hands, which had a phone and keys in, as we ran down the steps.

Outside, we saw Mike in his BMW, with at least four people already.

“Shotgun” Ava shouted back to me as I got in the back seat. The car already smelled like cologne and perfume overdose, heavy breathing, beer, and pot. I gagged.

I recognized one of the two girls, and the guys I didn’t know at all.

From the front, Mike turned around with a “Yo “getting everyone’s attention.

“We need to get back by two, and whoever ain’t drunk driving. Next to me, my girl, Ava, and her friend, Mackenzie” Mike said looking at motioning to me, “Jack, Logan, Jaz, and Stacey” Mike said pointing to everyone else in the car, not like they were listening or anything.

Then he turned around and stepped on the gas.

Before I knew it, we were at Claire’s party. Claire and Ava, had a rough past together. They used to be two peas in a pod. But they got in a big argument, when Claire posted an embarrassing video online about Ava and they started competing from then. Posting mean comments, videos, pictures, and clips about one another, until the principal got hold of one, and they were given detention from two months, and extra community service, which ended about a month and a half ago. They claimed to have gotten over it by now, when just a couple of months ago, they at each other’s throats. Oh, yeah, and to make matters worse, Mike left Claire for Ava, and now we were going to her end of junior year party.

We all tumbled out of the van, and went to the back. There were people everywhere. Smoking, drinking, eating, talking, yelling, dancing, diving in the water, and playing these weird card games.

I turned around, but didn’t see Ava. So, I went, got a burger, and a coke. No way was I getting drunk. I sat and watched other people, since, that’s what I did at every party. Out the corner of my eye, I heard my name, and Ava waving me over. I got up, and walked over to her.

“What are you drinking?” she asked.

“Coke” I said.

She looked horrified. “Coke?”

“Um, yeah.” I said unsurely.

She whispered something in a girl’s ear, and the girl ran and came back really quick with a margarita and vodka in her hand. Ava took it from her hand, and poured the contents in a plastic red cup.

“Drink” she said, holding it out to me.

“Are you crazy?! I’m underage, and so are you!” I exclaimed.

“It’s only one, and besides, you can’t leave without drinking one. Not only will you be a let-downer, but you’ll never be invited anywhere in senior year” she said in a convincing tone.

Who am I kidding? She’s right. I take it out of her hand, and drink it. Surprising, it’s good. Before I know it I’m refilling my cup over and over. I stopped counting at seven. And now I’m dizzy, swaying, and laughing, and words just tumbling out of my mouth.

Then Claire comes up to us, I can’t really make out what she’s saying, but I know it’s not good.

“I know…. Don’t tell me what to do… you’re crazy… he never loved you… he’ll leave you soon enough”

I see Ava’s face flaming, and she’s speaking through gritted teeth. Claire’s walking away, and Ava and a group of highly drunk girls are following. Soon enough, I’m following. Then, we all walk into an empty room, and all I know is that they’re all shouting, I can’t take much more.
