Prologue

When I got the call from the hospital, I didn't know what to think.

I didn't think.

I couldn't think.

I wouldn't think.

I don't remember the drive there, I don't even remember where I was before I got the call.

The nurse there was quick to tell me where the ER was, I could feel myself slide across the ground at every corner.

When I barged into the ER I wasn't expecting it, any of it.

All I saw was red, deep red, drenching all the white around you.

Red, it was my favourite colour.

Not anymore.

Even with all the doctors and nurses running and yelling, you looked so relaxed. Even with the oxygen mask covering your face, you looked so peaceful.

And that peaceful look on your face was gone, when you started to lurch around.

I could feel my body being pulled back; out of that room, I could hear my screams, I could feel myself kicking.

All to stay in that forsaken room, to see you. To look into your eyes, to feel you touch, to hear those beautiful words leave your mouth.

Why did I fight to get back in there?

I don't want to see what's in there.

They let go when I stopped fighting; when I stopped hearing the people walking by, when I stopped hearing the over-head speaker, when I stopped hearing the doctors and nurses yelling.

When I stopped hearing the sounds of the machines.

I don't know what happened after that. I could make out someone speaking to me but their words were jumbled.

I didn't think about you leaving me.

I couldn't think about you leaving me.

I wouldn't think about you leaving me.

Tell me what you think, it is appreciated.
