It was 1998, my mom and I were sitting in her bed holding my hand tightly. It was the last moments of seeing her there, in front of my eyes, alive. It'll be any second when she passes on.
She was the most beautiful, most confident woman I have ever laid my eyes on. I loved her so much, I don't know how I'm going to live without her. Grandma told me my mother used to smoke cigarettes with my father when they were younger.
My father wasn't too much of a smart man back then, and he isn't now. He snorts up drugs, has tons of girls come over all night until four in the morning. That's why my mom and divorced him. Also the fact that he spent $400 on drugs and alcohol for a huge party. All that money was going to something important.
"Lillian, Sophia, this is your last minute together, please, say your last goodbyes." The nurse said smiling sadly to us.
I looked at the most beautiful woman in that bed, head shaved and bags under her eyes. Her face skin seemed to be shaving off bit by bit as she looked like a skeleton almost.
"I love you mama." A tear dropped down my cheek." I love you much much more Sophia. Take care of your father for me since he will he takin care of you. I know what's he's put you and I'm sorry I-" "mama don't be sorry. It's not your fault. It's his. He's an asshole." She giggled and so did I.
"When I die, in a few minutes, my presence will be go into a butterfly, and it will protect you. It's called the Bhutanitis lidderdalii." "I'll miss you mom, I love you so so so much." I kissed the back of her hand." Please...be smart, don't give up, don't kill yourself to be stuck up in heaven for me, I love you, but don't."
I nodded," say hi to god." The nurse came in," Hello ladies I'm horribly sorry but your time is now up." She looked at me as I smiled at mama and walked out slowly. Tears welled up in my eyes as I heard the beeping noise go off.
Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep
I ran out of the hospital sobbing, my aunt was waiting in the car with my oldest cousin, Sam. He was sweet but too old not to have a girlfriend. I jumped in the car and sobbed telling them mama died. They began to cry as well. My whole life....is different. It's all going to change.
