Living on your new college campus was a whole new experience, a million icebreakers and the same questions asked a million times over. You were just read for the orientation week to end. The last event was this ‘Welcome Home’ event- which was totally pointless because you’ve already been on a campus tour and have lived here for three whole days now; nonetheless, you find yourself walking to the student union with the mass of other new kids and trying not to look so painfully out of place.
The room is a huge open ballroom, with high ceilings and polished floors. Upperclassmen, boys and girls, are lined against one side of the room holding cards with a different letter group. They all look very prim and proper, in khakis and a polo matching the school’s color. You scan the line and search for the letter that your name belongs with and eventually you make your way to that section of the room. You look around and through the line until you see your name. You smile quickly and walk to the boy holding your card, as you get closer your heart stops and a lump gets caught in your throat- the boy is breathtaking.
He looks a little like he doesn’t want to be here, with his voluminous black hair sticking up at odd angles and his deep brown eyes dropping a bit while he looks unentertained. You take a deep breath and clear your throat before walking forward. “Hi, I’m YN.” you said, for the millionth time this week, and forced a smile of your own. “Thank god.” the boy muttered and lowered his sign. You chuckled and tilted your head to the side, trying to read his upside down name tag a little easier. “Brendon?” you questioned then lifted your eyes back to his. He looked at you warily, confused and then nodded. “Your tag is upside down, that’s why I looked at you like that. I promise I’m not a weirdo okay, I want this over just as much as you do.” you said, readjusting the strings of your bag over your shoulder.
Brendon raises his eyebrows and then looks down to his shirt, he blushes a little as fixes his name tag. “Well alright, let’s get this started then, shall we?” he asks, his voice is like velvet and his smile is blinding as he leads the way out of the ballroom. Maybe this won’t be so bad afterall.

Brendon shows you around the campus and to your classes but your mind is everywhere but focused on the words coming out of his mouth. He talked excitedly and gestured to buildings and recounted some of his memories from his glory days in his freshman classes. “YN, are you even listening?” he groaned and turned to you. You shook your head no, “Not really. You’re boring me.” you said, looking up to him. He smirked as he chuckled, “You’re something else, you know that?” he asked, running his hand through his ebony hair. “I do.” you giggled and Brendon turned on his heels and continued the tour.
The tour didn’t last much longer and soon Brendon was walking you back to your dorm. “There’s a welcoming party tonight, you’re invited.” he said, walking into the elevator with you and allowing you to press the button. “Oh yeah? Another school function? No thanks.” you hummed and rode in the elevator in silence. “I never said it was a school function. I said it was a party.” Brendon chuckled and followed you out.
You groaned and got your keys ready, “I’ll think about it, Brendon.” you said unlocking your door once you got to it. “Here, let me give you my number so I can give you the details.” he took your phone out of your hands and held it out of your reach as he typed in his contact information. “Though I bet you won’t come.. You don’t seem like the type that can handle a little party.” he teased and grabbed your hip as you pressed against him trying to get your phone.
