Part 3

We knew from then on that they were zombies, you get stabbed in the heart, you should die. But that man didn't and he just ripped Mason's flesh like nothing while showing no emotion. After I smashed the mans' head, he didn't move. When we saw that, we knew that that's how we kill them. I asked Mason if he was alright. He said he was fine. Then, Rias asked if he could keep going. He said,  "don't worry about me baby, I can still run" I was kind of bothered by it, but didn't mind that much. We were gonna keep running to get inside the other building. But right when we were gonna run, we saw one of our friends, James. He was a good man, he always did his job and made everyone feel like they were a part of the team. He was soon gonna be a dad, but I guess that changed. When we looked over, he was looking out the window looking for an escape, and when he couldn't find one he had to choose to be one of those monsters or die as a human..... He chose to stay and die human. He climbed on the window and jumped head first right onto the brick floor. When he hit the ground, his head exploded blood. The zombies that were already on the floor started to eat him. Mason and I wanted to show respect, so we saluted the sky hoping he was in a better place. Once we were done, we continued to run and we saw that they were everywhere, so we ran up the stairs to the roof.

Once on the roof, we saw that there were a few zombies. We knew that we weren't able to take them all out, so we saw that there was an area up the stairs across the roof where you can eat lunch. We started to run to those stairs. While we were running, we smashed heads that got close to us. We got to the stairs. I was first, then Mason, then Rias behind us. We were at the top of the stairs but when Mason and I turned around, we saw Rias trying to fight a zombie on the stairs. When she jabbed his chest to push him, the zombie grabbed the spear and pushed her against the wall; he started to crawl to her. When I was about to help, Mason pushed me and took the bat and smashed the zombies' head. She looked happy that Mason saved her. They got close to each other and Rias blushed. Mason saw a female zombie climbing up the stairs, so he ran more down the stairs and kicked her. She fell down the stairs and smashed her head against the metal bars. When everyone was finally up the stairs, we barricaded the stairs with tables, chairs, and rope that was near by. Once we saw that we were safe for the time being, we all rested. But out of no where, Mason started to change. He was turning; he started to barf blood and felt pain. Rias was trying to help him, but he knew that there was nothing she could do. He only wanted one thing. He said " Alex, can you do me a favor?" I said "of course man anything".... He said " I need you to smash my head" it was silent when I heard those words. I can't do that man he yelled I DON'T WANT TO BE LIKE THEM!!! and then barfed more blood while feeling pain. I was gonna grant his wish but then Rias got in my way and said " no, you can't hurt him. I won't let you. We can help. We can find a doctor to fix this, Alex, please don't. He's your best friend". Mason fell to the floor and stayed laying down with his motionless body. Rias ran to the body crying hoping that he was fine she saw him getting up and said "see Alex, he's fine right Mason... Mason?" His body got up and stood there and made a moaning noise. I knew that he already turned. I had no choice I had to kill him. He started to move, so I ran up to him, jumped, and smashed his head. Rias screamed "Noooooooooooooooo" and started to cry... I took off my lab coat and put it over him. Rias and I sat down and leaned against the wall looking at his body. She said "Alex, why, why did u do it?". I said " Rias he would have bitten us if I didn't" she yelled " how do you know that? Are you some kind of expert?... He wouldn't have hurt me? Oh, I know what this is about. You were jealous of him because he was dating me and he loved me?!! I got up and started to walk to the barricade. She got up and said "what are you doing". " I'm gonna go smash some heads." She tried to talk me out of it but I didn't want to listen anymore. Once she saw that I was climbing on the chairs to go over, she ran to me and hugged my back and said while crying " I'm sorry. I didn't mean what I said. Please don't leave me I lost Mason and I don't want to lose you. Please don't leave me!!!" I turned around and saw her crying. I looked into her big brown eyes and hugged her... When I hugged her, I felt like nothing was going on in the world. I killed my best friend and I held the girl I loved for the first time in my life.....
