The drive couldn't have been longer. We are almost there I thought almost. Those past few days her and I slept in the car. Since I was ten I thought it was ok. Still wrong. Having your own kid sleep in a car is not ok. You either have a plan or don't. In this case I'm pretty sure you can guess which one my so called mothers chose. I don't want to be mean but I cant help thinking she was stupid. Worst of all I was stupid for trusting her.
Those day we slept in her car weren't pleasant as you can imagine. We ate fast food 24/7 and were writing the story as we go. We were in Washington in the next couple of days but it wasn't the end of it. We still were living in the car. Somehow there was always a smile on my face because I thought I was helping her, but I really should have been helping myself.
"Slug bug," I said. Sitting in the back of the trunk of my mothers green-blue Saturn car. I was swinging my legs following her pattern.
"That's not a slug bug," she said
"Ya it is," I said with a laughter "The blue one right there look at it,"
"No it wasn't," she said as the car past. She always had to be right. It annoyed me so much. What was she trying to prove anyway.
The sun was yellow-pink. Sunset. The trunk was already fixed with blankets and two pillows as if it were a bed. My Mom has meniscus in her knees so it was hard for her it get in the trunk by herself plus she was a bigger size than me. As usual I helped her. Night came and I was squished to one side of the back of the car. I fell asleep with my prized possession in my arms. My stuffed giraffe I kept since I was little "Boing-Boing". I know it a silly name but I named him when I was little and its better than his original name "Tip-Top". At least I think so.Morning came with a knocked on the car door. Mom woke up "Uhhhhh" she said and opened the door. " We noticed your car has been here over night and I'm afraid you need to go. I'm sorry,". A man said. I forgot that our car was parked in a Walmart parking lot. I was half asleep. I didn't want my mom to know so I pretend I was asleep. It was so cold it made me sick. I felt as If I was going to die of hypothermia. She woke me up after a few minutes and told me to fix the back of the trunk. We drove off. She told me that she looked in the review mirror and saw the guy that talked to her and some others laughing. Until I found out the truth I thought that was true. I thought that guy seemed pretty nice and wouldn't do something like that, But that was my opinion and my opinion didn't matter. Not in her world.
We drove off to Everett and thats were it started. When I started having those thoughts that never should have even been in my head in the first place.
