IT WAS DAY 326 ALREADY and the girls had finally thought of this small place as home. They had been making process with everything that had been going on, the brunettes seemed to now find themselves safe and comfy there. Claudia and Eleven were now sound asleep in the bedroom that they shared. Eleven was on the bed, as of Claudia who agreed onto sleeping on the floor. They were no other bedrooms apart from Hopper's who was the same size as the girls. Luckily Claudia was lying on a mattress rather than directly on the cold wooden planks. But just because she was comfy, it did not mean that she got any sleep. She had her back on the bed, fingers fiddling with each other and her eyes staring up at the ceiling.
Her mind was running around with worried thoughts, it wouldn't want to turn off. So Claudia had to listen to everything that her mind asked her starting from;
Is Mike okay?
It had been so long ever since she had last seen him, and she missed him. She missed him quite a lot. Claudia always worried about that boy considering he was sometimes a rebel against rules, he had his own ways in life and he didn't like anyone controlling it.
But she didn't know if he ever thought of that question himself. Did he ever worry about Claudia the way she worried about him? Did he ever - at some point - find Claudia crossing his mind, even just once?
"Rise and shine." The wide awake brunette had heard Hopper from the doorway and Claudia immediately looked at Hopper with his police outfit on and she sighed heavily. She stood up and let out a quiet yawn before walking out of the room, murmuring a quiet 'morning' to Hopper.
Claudia made her way over to the small table, plopping herself down on one of the chairs. Soon, Hopper and Eleven had joined her as that sat opposite each other while Claudia was on the end. The adult had brought over a plate filled with Eggos and many unhealthy foods covering it, saying that 'the good thing about it is that it's only 8,000 calories'.
But Claudia only ate one waffle and she instantly felt sick from how much sugar was in it.
Hopper must have seen the long chord that stretched across the lounge room because he then began to spoke, "You visited him again last night?" He asked Eleven and Claudia, knowing that she always had Will's walkie talkie.
Claudia shook her head, "Hopper, you know I haven't touched it ever since I last saw him." She assured him again, always having to say this to at least give Hopper his satisfaction.
But Eleven only sighed, looking at Claudia then at Hopper. She looked down at her now empty plate, "He says he needs us." She had softly replied with.
It was like this every single day ever since they had approached the hiding house; Hopper would mention the TV and walkie talkie, Claudia would say no, Eleven would answer that Mike needed them and hell would break loose. So Claudia expected Eleven to begin yelling at Hopper, her impatience always getting the best of her.
"On day 800?!"
"No!"
"I need to see him! TELL ME!"
"I said I-"
And Claudia watched as Eleven banged her hands on the table, her telekinesis powers making the plate of Eggos crash into Hopper.
"Oh shit!" Hopper exclaimed as he stood up, staring at his now dirty outfit in which Eleven stood up as well.
"Friends don't lie!" Eleven screamed before storming off into their room, slamming the door behind her.
Claudia still sat at the table, staring agape at everything like this was the first time it had happened. She looked up at Hopper, "Do you want me to-"
But Hopper had cut her off, knowing that she would ask him the same question that she had been asking after every fight. "-No, Claudia. Don't clean anything, just go check on her." He answered with and the young brunette nodded her head before walking away.
She knocked on the door softly and quietly, "Eleven, it's Claudia. Can I please come in?" She asked, seeing that Hopper had already left to go to work. "Hopper just left."
And the door opened, seeing that Eleven was sitting on her bed with many tears that rolled down her cheeks. Claudia quickly walked over to her and she sat down next to the girl's fragile and crying body.
"It's frustrating, I know," Claudia had said as all of her attention was Eleven. "but we will see him soon, El. I'm sure he wants to see you as well." She then wrapped her arms around her, letting a tear fall from her face.
But Claudia didn't cry because she felt bad for Eleven, it was because Eleven and Hopper never understood how broken she was. She hadn't seen anyone in three years and that pain had made itself into a bomb.
In other words, there will be a day where Claudia would unexpectedly break from her silent and broken shell.
And with the chaos that was bubbling up inside of her.
She will explode.
