Chapter 2-Finding Refuge

Brett's POV

I told myself I would tell her the truth. I wanted to meet up with her and  tell her everything. I told her to meet me at school very early. But I ditched. I went up to the city.  

I'm a guardian. I'm actually Jasmine's guardian. See, Jasmine is rare, actually impossible, Super-powered human, aka Sup.  Most sups only have 1 or 2 powers. having 3 powers is slim to none. Having 4 powers is nearly impossible. She has EVER POWER THERE IS! Its amazing, I know. And I got to be her guardian. Lucky me. Actually not. I'm supposed to look out for her and make sure her powers aren't randomly happening. You can only activate the powers through these super-painful needles which also allow access to certain areas to the city. The needles are special and insert something magical and junk and it gives her all the info about the magical world, let her into the city, and activate the powers. But all needles are a HUGE phobia for all sups. And of course, I'm the one to give her the needles. The city I've been talking about, its the city for sups, guardians, and trainers. Where it is? No one knows. It teleports around to wherever a sup wants to leave to or arrive to. Sometimes, I just go there to escape.

I could just tell Jasmine everything in a dream, but that's damn creepy. But also, it would freak the hell out of her. Her friend come into a dream and just practically ruin her and her life? Yeah, nope.

I go to the city and meet up with my friends. I only have a few because I graduated top in my class and I got her, the beautifully, rare gem, Jasmine. Only a few stuck with me and we are tight, bro.

"Hey, guys!" I call.

"Aren't you ditching human school, Brett." They mock.

"Yes. I need some advice." I pause. They stare at me to go on. "Fine, about Jasmine."

"1, you can't date her. 2, I knew I should've gotten her!" Jase responds.

"I know, I know. Just, I don't know how to break the news to her. I mean the government told me to wait, but nothing has happened and they told me I can bring her here." I avoid the mention of needles. It pains all of us. By bring her here, I mean, give her the.... NEVERMIND. "Also, I think she's crushing on me. Who knows what she'll do if she knows that I'm her guardian and she has powers that haven't been activated yet and she hasn't gotten them," I start rambling like an idiot. "and that i've kept this from her, and she'll go to a place where its just us. I mean, I should've activated her a long time ago and ignored the government, completely lose her all together," I breath and Jase butts in.

"DUDE! Breathe. Damn dude. Do you like her, too?"

"No, no, no, no. I can't. " I respond. Truly, I like her back. I just can't like her, its against the rules for guardians and sups to be together. But usually its not a boy and girl, but occasionally it is.

"You can't, but you do. I can tell."

"Maybe." I mumble. I can't admit it here in the city. I'll be kicked out for sure.  "I knew the government shouldn't have made me wait. Now she thinks of me as a best friend and we are REALLY close. She almost slept with me once. Then my friend caught us before I fell asleep."

"Woah, dude. No way. Wait, what the hell were you two doing anyway?"

"I accompanied her to a party once. She passed out from exhaustion on the couch in my arms. I almost fell asleep when my friend caught me."
