I'd have to see Leilani tomorrow and she'd ask me all these questions. I don't want her to ask me anything about it.
THE NEXT DAY
I got up out of bed, not very peacefully. I must've had a bad dream because I ended up on the floor. I needed to dress like nothing was wrong, so I put on a bright red crop top, black leggings, and my blue and black Nikes. I ran downstairs, but on the last step, I tripped and fell right on my face. I was fine but it hurt. My mom had cut up some strawberries and put them in a bowl, along with some blueberries , grapes, and whipped cream.
"No chocolate syrup?" I mumbled.
"What was that?"
"Nothing, mom..."
"Eat, you're gonna be late."
"Whatever" I start eating the fruit with my hands.
"Use a utensil." She says as she hands me a fork. "And it's not 'whatever' because breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That's what kickstarts the day."
"Okay mom"
As I finish up my breakfast, my older brother and younger sister race down the stairs.
"Don't slip!" I snicker as I receive a dirty look from my mother.
"Katelynn Rey!"
"MOM!!!"
"Don't you dare raise your voice at me, young lady!!!"
I mimic her as I dodge getting slapped by her.
I turn around to say I'm "sorry" as my little sister snickers and sticks he tongue out at me.
"KATELYNN REY!!!!!!!!"
"WHAT MOTHER?"
"LEAVE YOUR SISTER ALONE, SHE DID NOTHING WRONG!"
"ARE YOU BLIND?"
"Excuse me?"
"I guess you are"
I leave my bowl there, grab my bag and my phone, and head out the door.
"KATELYNN, PICK UP YOUR DISHES AFTER YOURSELF, YOUNG LADY!!!!!"
I ignored her.
As I run to the bus stop, nearly missing the bus, I started thinking.
(In Katelynn's head)
'Why do I have such bad luck? Why do I have to lose my best friend at such a young age. Why does my family hate me'
As all these thoughts are busy swarming through my head, I happen to look over at my crush.
He's on my bus, so I see him everyday.
It has its ups and downs.
I'll know he'll never like me back.
He's approaching the back of the bus where I usually sit when I hear my phone chime.
-beep-
Mary Ann: Hey, you on the bus yet?
Me: Ye, after almost missing it.
I started texting her, just as I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"Yes?"
I look up from my phone as I see my crush standing directly beside my seat.
"Uh, sorry to interrupt, but can I sit here?"
I try to act like I didn't really care but actually that was exciting.
Finally some good luck!
"Umm, sure. I don't really care."
"Thanks."
"Whatever."
"So, you have a phone, I see."
"Isn't it obvious?"
"Woah, chill out."
"What?"
"Anyways, wanna exchange numbers?"
"Why?"
"Maybe I wanna text you."
"What if I wanna text you first?"
"Are you flirting with me?"
"Maybe."
"I think you are."
"Type your phone number."
"Alright."
As he grabs my phone from my grip, I feel a shiver rush down my back.
As he's typing his phone number, he starts to break into a smile.
"Text me."
"I will."
Me: Hey.
Carson: Wassup.
Me: For me, the sky, hbu?
Just as he starts typing an answer, the bus gets to our school.
"Selfie before we leave?"
"Sure"
As I take a selfie of us, a bee lands on my hand.
"AHHHH!!!!!"
I drop my phone to the ground as I scream, nearly knocking over a teacher walking by.
"KATELYNN!!!"
"Sorry, Carson."
"Your afraid of bees?? Wow."
"Uhh..."
I grab my phone as I run to my first class of the day, science.
