"Hey lovely," Ewan came up from behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, chin on her shoulder. She gave a jolt of shock, he was never this early and finally she laid her palm on his hands. He gave her a peck on her cheek as she winced.
Valaska was the Vice President of HOPE Los Angeles. An association where charitable socialites come together to give 'hope' to the needy. The President, is her father. Being the only daughter and youngest child to Gregory and Maria Donawitt, she was well brought up. Her brother was equally great but he wasn't the 'family business' type of man. He preferred venturing the world for new possibilities.
Her cherry pink lips curled into a smile as she noticed the handsome young man right before her eyes, "hey handsome," she turned around and placed her palm on his chest as they both leaned in for a brief kiss. "Where to this time?" he always took her for lunch, it was part of their routine. She started to taste the inside of her mouth, "I feel like.... Pasta!" The black haired, black-eyed gorgeous man gave a smirk, she loved Itallian and he knew it.
"Idyllic, then," he confirmed with the name of the restaurant. "Alright, miss."
He opened the door of his vintage red 1968 Mustang 428 Cobra Jet Fastback as she stepped inside. She had an adorable skeptical look when she put on her seatbelt. She had it on anytime she did something worth concentrating at. He started to drive up the streets of beautiful Los Angeles to their destination.
As they approached the stunning carvings engraved on the entrance of Idyllic, she spoke, "hey, why don't I go and grab a table while you park this beauty?" He gave her look of approval. It was mashed up with the feeling of love he had for her. He held her face with one hand as the car came to a halt, his thumb stroking her cheek.
"Sure, love."
"I'll see you in a bit, okay," she turned around to walk in. "Val," he called out, "I love you." He just felt the need to say that. She smiled at the fact that he was so sweet and blew him a kiss.
Inside.
"Everyone! He's coming in any moment now, act natural," she had arranged his birthday party. All in a month's work. Decorations, food, even the guest list. It's amazing how she managed to keep it a secret. It all looked well, perfection- just the way she wanted it. She felt contempt.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Gun shots sounded outside the building. The room was filled with the voices of worried people. Valaska found it hard to breathe all of a sudden, the noises were blocked out of her head and she prayed for the best.
She walked at a snail's pace towards the door and found herself running to get outside. Just a block away, she could see police cars and an ambulance arriving. She rushed towards the crowds. As she pushed her way through, she could catch the policemen talking, "We caught all of them. But the one who shot him got away." She took a look at the victim.
"NO!!" she wanted to grab him and hold him in her arms so badly but the policeman held her back. "Please! He's my boyfriend," she begged with tears flowing down her face. He let her in. She held his head and kissed with bloody cheeks. "Ew-wan, h-how could you! No! Y-you can't leave m-me," she struggled to say through her tears.
By that time, his family and friends have arrived at the scene and many of them were in tears. They didn't dare to touch her as they understood how she must have felt.
"Love."
