On the day of the funeral, the evening was cold and grim. Valaska stood beside the coffin staring at it and the hard gray stone. On it, his name engraved in black. Ewan Blakeley Chesterwick. She took a swift breath and began to sob again. She just couldn't stand the fact that her love of two years had died. The gorgeous bookstore manager, straight and sweet. He was a firm and disciplined man who knew how to take care of his maiden.

"Val," she spun around as she heard the familiar voice. "Claudi," she hugged the figure that stood before her. Someone she found comfort in, her best friend. The brown blonde lady started to pat her back, letting her wet her coat with tears. She knew it must have been hard for her best friend.

5 months has passed since she lost Ewan, the first two were absolutely devastating. She learned to carry on with life but never really moved on. She was not quite herself any longer. She sits there, in a library at the shelf where they first met. Sitting on the floor, she tilted her head a little as she scanned the novel he used to read to her.

Her phone vibrated. A text message.

'Val, where are you? I'm at Starbucks, care to join?'

Claudia Marie Harlington, beautiful as she is a model. Valaska gave a faint smile as she replied that she'd be there in a minute. She got up and placed the novel back on the shelf, the empty space that was there when the book left. She still made that skeptical concentrating face. Walking out the library, she nodded at a few people as a greeting. She was quite known in those premises. As she placed her hand on the doorknob, she reached for her sunglasses to put it place.

"Hunn..." Claudia gave her a hug and a kiss on both cheeks, "What have you been up to all day?" "A lot, babe. I ended with reading at the library and now.. I'm here," she gave a slight smile and they grabbed a seat on the counter. Ordering their usual, the cashier gave a smile as if they didn't even need to ask. As they started chatting, a man came in with his lover, hand in hand. He was a black head. Valaska turned away abruptly, not wanting to look at the lovebirds. Claudia understood and placed her palm on hers.

"Oh honey, it's been five months. He would have wanted you to move on."

Valaska simply tightened her lips and took a sip of her drink. "I haven't found anyone, Claudi," she finally said, ruffling her rich brunette hair to the back. "You mean you haven't met anyone yet," she knew her best friend had not made an effort to move on. She knew that Valaska was afraid of forgetting Ewan.

"Can we just... not talk about that?"

"No," Claudia was not just some dumb blonde model. She was concern for Valaska.

"What do you suppose I do?"

"Take a chance, Val! I don't need to be forcing you to find a new guy. I'm not asking you to sign up to an online dating service or go on a blind date or whatever bloody shit it is. I'm just asking you, yourself to take. A. Chance,"

Valaska sighed. She knew Claudia was right. She just wished she could go ahead with it. It was not likely of Valaska to go out and look for a candidate. She missed Ewan badly and didn't want anyone to replace him. He was her Mr. Chesterwick.

Ewan was strong. Firm. Disciplined. Yet Loving and sweet. She knew if she found a guy, he had to be completely different from Ewan. He had to be someone new, fresh. Someone that didn't remind her of him. Someone that made her loose and set her free.

"Aight, Claudi. I'll try."
