Prologue
The Nations of Iwaku and Dente, although separated by two seas and a vast ocean, seemed to always find a reason to be in conflict with each other. As the legends told for years and years had predicted, two young Terran brothers were born who were destined to become great heroes, and bring balance to a chaotic world.
As they grew, the brothers decided to separate themselves to partake in great journeys in the neighboring continents. The Elder Brother, Edric, traveled to Dente to uncover the secrets of power. The Younger Brother, Mendel, went to Iwaku to learn more about the ultimate wisdom. They promised each other to meet again someday.
Ten years later, the two had grown into world-famous masters, both closer than anyone else in history to unlocking the Door of Time. Edric knew it was time to meet his brother, but no longer for sentimental reasons. He knew that to be able to control time itself, he’d need not only Power but also Wisdom. He had become greedy, only wanting more power. Together with his wife, they journeyed into Iwakan territory, a dangerous trek for Dentian citizens.
While in a small village, his wife was accidently shot and killed by an Iwakan cop. Blinded by his own anguish, a beast planted by his own power-lust awakened within him, and in a single night he destroyed the entire town, leaving no survivors.
Soon he realized the true atrocities of his actions. Immediately he found Mendel and begged him to lend Edric his research so he may turn back time and undo all the deaths in that village. But Mendel refused. As he had been taught by Iwakan monks, dealing with time is breaking a taboo with God himself, and forbidden.
Once more filled with unbearable rage, Edric unveiled his sword and murdered his one and only brother, stole his research, and discovered the secrets behind Time. By dishonoring God, he gave Dente an unlimited reach to technology.
As word got out of Edric’s serial killings, Iwaku became enraged. It was not long after that they invaded Dente, destroying many coastal villages, an act meaning an automatic declaration of war. In response, Dente bombed the Iwakan Capital. Somewhere along the way, the brothers missed the path to justice, and the prophecy was shamed. The war had begun.
It still is not over.
