As I sat at the lacrosse game, I felt a little worried. Stiles wasn't here and for some reason that made me feel highly suspicious. Why would Stiles miss the game when he would actually be allowed to play. So, I tracked his phone. I learned a little from Danny since meeting him the first day of school.
As I looked at his location I became a little curious. Why the hell would he be at the hospital. Without another word I left the game and headed to the hospital.
When I got there I saw Derek alone. I quickly ran up to him.
"Where's Stiles?"
"He's inside," Derek says, "Woah Abby, calm down."
"No," I say, "he needs to get out now."
"What's going on?" Derek asks.
"Peter.... he's the alpha. I don't have any proof... but I just know it's him."
Just then Stiles called.
"What Stiles?"
"I can't find her."
"Wait what."
"Yeah, I said I can't find her."
"Look, ask for Jennifer. She's been looking after my uncle."
"Yeah well, he's not here either."
Derek stared at me in amazement. "Stiles, get out of there right now. It's him, he's the alpha! Get out!"
Derek ran in to save Stiles and I just stood there. I had no clue what to do next. I was amazed that I was right and also quite annoyed that two of the most important people could be killed soon, so I ran through the door to help them.
Peter's eyes went immediately to me.
"Ah, you must be Abigail," he said as he started walking towards me.
"Stay away from her," Derek said running in front of me.
"Wow. little nephew Derek protecting little miss Abigail, could you quite possibly like her?"
"I can protect myself," I said stepping in front of myself."
I walked up to Peter and looked him directly in the face. "You ruined my life." I said. "My family will disown me once they find out what I am."
"Oh right, you're an Argent, scary werewolf hunter. How's Auntie Kate?"
"Don't talk about her, she did nothing to you."
"Oh miss Abby, if only you knew who your aunt really is. Why don't you tell her Derek."
I looked at Derek, "what's he talking about?"
"You really haven't told her?" Peter laughed. "You must really not care about her if you wouldn't tell her about her own aunt, but if I were you, I would be embarrassed about the whole ordeal too."
"You know what," I say. I can't do this."
I left the hospital and went straight back to the game, but I couldn't stop thinking about what Derek was hiding from me about Kate. I probably looked incredibly stupid. What is so bad that my aunt did that Derek felt he had to hide it from me.
I got back to the game and sat with my aunt and father.
"Where did you run off to?" My dad asks laughing.
"I wondered where Stiles was," I said.
"And did you find him?" My aunt asked.
I looked at her for a while. Finally I answered "No."
Suddenly Scott ran up to me after a while.
"Abigail, can we talk."
I left my Alison and walked into the locker room with him. All the players had already left so thank god it was just me and him.
"Have you seen Stiles?"
"I was with him at the hospital," I say.
"Wait what?"
I couldn't get another word out of my mouth because the lights suddenly turned off.
"Danny?" Scott said.
Suddenly a lacrosse ball rolled away from the showers.
"Scott, maybe we should leave."
But Scott didn't listen to me. He picked the ball up and walked towards the showers.
Derek was standing there, quietly.
"Thank God," Scott said relieved. "Where the hell have you been? Do you have any idea what's been going on?"
Suddenly Peter walked out from behind me and I stood there frozen, not knowing what to say.
"I really don't get lacrosse," Peter said holding up a lacrosse stick.
Scott stood there speechless until he finally said something. "It was you."
"When I was I'm high school, we played basketball," Peter said. "There's a real sport. Still I read somewhere that lacrosse comes from native American tribes and that they played it to resolve conflict. I have that right?" Hm, I have a little conflict of my own to resolve Scott. But I need yours and Abigail's help to do it."
"I'm not helping you kill people."
"Well, I don't want to kill all of them. Just the responsible ones. And that doesn't have to include-" he paused.
"Alison." Derek finished. He knew how much Alison meant to both of us, of course he would use her against us.
I stared at Derek amazed. "You're on his side?" I said, a little hurt. "Are you forgetting
the part where he killed your sister?"
"It was a mistake," Derek said.
"What?" I said. I must be losing my mind.
"It happens," Derek defended.
"Abigail," Peter said slyly, "I think you're getting the wrong impression of us. We really want to help you two reach your full potential."
"By killing our friends?" Scott says.
"Sometimes the people closest to you, can be the ones really holding you back the most."
"If they're holding me back from becoming a psychotic nut job like you, I'm okay with that."
Peter started walking closer to Scott and I ran next to him.
"Maybe you could try and see things from my perspective," he said as he drew his claws.
Suddenly he stuck one set of claws in the back of Scott's neck and another set in the back of my neck. He took them out as soon as he had put them in and both Scott and I fell to the floor.
Just as if it were a movie I saw Peter's past and suddenly I understood. He was killing everyone responsible for setting the Hale house on fire. He didn't mean to kill Laura, it was the full moon. This didn't make up for him being a psycho murdering monster, but now I understood why he did it.
