Oh no... here I was. Sitting on my old, leather couch in my most beautiful, purple dress, waiting... they're coming. The Doolans. I've never met the Doolans. They are supposed to be the richest people in town, but i've never seen them. Want to know why they're coming? You see they have a son. I don't think I have ever met their son either... or so I think. My mother told me yesterday that i was spending the rest of my life with their son... thats right, an arranged marrige. Here is what happened ...
***FLASHBACK***
I just arrived from school.
"Mom, i'm home!"
"In here darling, i've got news..." she replied back in a shaky voice.
"Ok..." i whined back.
I walked in to the kitchen, to see my mothers face over the stove making my favourite soup. Tomato and basil. This was classic mom. If she had bad news to tell me, she would soften me up with my favourite starter, main and dessert. She handed me my soup, which i gulped down real quickly.
"Right, mom, whats the news?" i said it bitterly not realising,
"We will wait till you finished ALL your dinner..." her voice was soothing, and calming, but it wasn't enough... I knew the news she had to tell included me. I was scared.
It felt like ages, but i managed to finish all my roast dinner, and brownie sundae... time for the news... i sat up ready to take it, but their was a sense of worrying in my mothers deep blue eyes... that meant, either i liked the news or i didnt...
"Spill." I demanded my mother. I'm not really cheeky... My mothers done something WITHOUT my permission. I was taking a gulp of my lemonade when mom replied...
"Your getting married!"
I choked on my lemonade and spat it all out and started hysterically laughing.
"Oh mom, you actually got me believing you there!"
"Im not kidding, Stephanie McMullen..." her voice changed from calming and peaceful, to dark and stern.
"Or should I say, Stephanie DOOLAN..."
"What do you mean your not kidding?!" my voice was raising. My cheeks started burning up, and my palms went all sweaty... it was true.
"I CANNOT GET MARRIED!" I literally screamed,
"I AM FAR, TOO YOUNG! I DO HAVE A LIFE YOU KNOW!"
"Im sorry it's all so sudden honey, but I need you to do this..."
I looked at my innocent mother, confused.
"I'll be right back." She broke the silence.
When she did arrive back, in her hand was a pile of dirty, printed paper. Bills. She wanted me to marry a stranger for money.
"Since your father left us, he left me with the dept. My boss told me that if I get you to marry his son, he'll pay me much more. I couldnt let such an offer go to waste-"
"But im not getting anything from this offer, mom," i explained to her more soothly,
"Apart from a husband i've never met before!" I raised my voice realising what I had just said.
My mother looked at me with pity in her eyes.
"They are arriving at lunch tomorrow... your going to be living with him."
I gave up too quickly. I knew my mom needed the money. Lets just hope the Doolans son, is hot, kind and smiley. I love a boy with a gorgeous smile. I wandered up the stairs. I lost my balance a few times because i was thinking about the Doolans son. No offence to them or anything, but i didnt like their second name. Doolan. And that would be my name soon. I eventually got to my room and opened the door. A scent of coconut ran straight through me. My room always smelt like this. I loved this scent. And now it was going to be left behind forever. I got out my suitcase out of my closet, on the shelf. I neatly folded my favourite clothing items, and I placed my favourite footwear on top then shut the top of the case over. Of course i'm taking my personal things. My iPhone, apple laptop, hair stylers, make-up etc.
