Samantha June Cole

9th January, 2018.

"Last one.", I say, placing the last of my ornaments on my bedside table sighing in relief.

I hear a knock on my door, incomes my step sister, Bella with a smile. "Dinners ready, you can come down and get it when you're ready", she then prances off back downstairs.

I smile, and look back making sure all my gadgets and things are all in place before I head downstairs to dinner after a long day of unpacking stuff.

I arrive downstairs in the kitchen to see my oh so dear friend, Charlie sitting down at the table. I laugh considering she is always letting herself in, she is kinda apart of the family now. I have known her basically for 8 years now.

I did have a younger sister, she died a few years ago though. I heard suicide was the 'apparent' cause, sad to think about, I shake the thought of Heaven  out of my head and sit down at the dinner table.

Mum smiles at me.

"You look exhausted!", she exclaims as she places dinner down in front of me taking her mittens off and placing them down on the bench before sitting down to eat dinner with us herself.

The door opens, in comes dad. He takes his big coat off hanging it on the rack and kicks his shoes off and comes to the dinner table.

"Dinner looks lovely, thank you.", he smiles at mum, she nods smiling back. Awe.

I eat my dinner slowly, I look at Charlie whom seems to be enjoying mums homemade lasagna. I chuckle to myself. She looks up at me confused. I shake my head, dismissing the thought.

I lay back on my bed, staring at the old, creaky like ceiling. Wind is to be heard from outside, it is slightly raining.

I check the time on my digital clock. 6:45PM

I turn my head, facing the window. Rain particles trickle down my window.

My door creaks open slightly. I jolt my head to the now, slightly opened door.

"Hmph", I groan, going to shut it, but it only flings open again.

I furrow my eyebrows in confusion. What could be happening? "Close!" I force my door shut. It only flings open again. I sigh.

I look around, but no one was here.

My window slides open lightly, my lights flicker on and off.

My heart starts beating fast, feeling nervous I pull my window shut carefully. Then the power goes out completely.

I was always scared of the dark..
