he wrote a note
said he was trying too hard
said he couldn't keep up
she told me he couldn't keep a balance
said I should learn from what he did
told me if I felt overwhelmed by her expectations
it would be my fault
that I should try harder
that I should keep up
and I wasn't allowed to be like him
