J U N G K O O K

"why the fuck-"

a doppelganger means the double of a living person. and jungkook has always wondered how it felt like to have a doppelganger.

but the least he expected was seeing his exact replica— just that his dear doppelganger is made out of metal. and that his replica was way smarter than him. and pimple-free.

unfair.

"-does he have my face?"

"look, i didn't know whose face to refer to. if i use a famous person's face they might sue me," namjoon explains.

"so, i can sue you?"

"what?"

"i'm famous," jungkook snorts, "in college." he was snickering, but the older's face showed anything but amusement. and so jungkook shuts up and clears his throat.

"whatever, jungkook. now, i really need your help," namjoon shakes his head at the younger antics. jungkook raises his eyebrow, and silence thickens before namjoon finally sighs in defeat, "i will pay you." and jungkook finally eases onto the couch, folding his arms as he lets a small smirk creep up his face.

"i'm an intellectual person, jungkook. but my hands sometimes don't work with me," namjoon starts. "that's why i have yoongi or jin in the lab to do most of the hands-on things for me. but yesterday, they weren't in. so i tried to add the little tweaks to JK 3 that we had planned to input." jungkook could already guess what's going to happen. who can't? namjoon's hands with items... not really a compatible duo. if you're searching for a compatible duo, maybe look at namjoon and jin instead. god knows how long jin had to put up with namjoon's clumsiness. not like they were married or dating or anything— but they've just been partners in the research for a really long time, to jungkook's knowledge. he had seen jin getting fired up a few times, and if he was in jin's place, he would've walked out of the lab and quit.

"let me guess, it broke. predictable, namjoon-hyung," jungkook cuts namjoon off before he could open his mouth to contradict, "but i can't see how i can contribute to your sciency scheme— that robot is smarter than ten of me combined." wow and it hurt his ego to say that, not kidding. not that he could ever beat artificial intelligence. jungkook knew he couldn't even pass up his essay to the professor.

"hold on, kook. i only told half the story," namjoon mutters, "so you know park jimin, right?"

"park jimin? like, the park jimin?" jungkook was sitting upright now, hands by the edge of the couch. jungkook had heard of this guy before; rich and smart kid— not to mention good looking. good looking is an understatement. he's ethereally gorgeous. it's hard not to know park jimin when he's all over the internet for being the millionaire's son. park enterprises' director. there's a lot of posts— bad ones, too, with people saying he's stuck up because he's the chairman's son, born with a silver spoon in his mouth. they say park jimin is a cold person. he never talks to anyone, unless it's regarding business. but not everyone agrees that park jimin is a typical stuck-up rich heir. especially namjoon. when jungkook asks "so what's he like?", namjoon would just lower his gaze and mumble a quiet "a heartbroken person who lost his warmth for the world a long time ago".

and namjoon never says anything but that.

"so jimin bought the robot... and would cancel the deal if you don't give it to him by tomorrow?" jungkook questions, a little skeptical at how little trust and patience there is between their friendship. "i don't think jimin would do that, hyung."

"i'm not taking any chances," namjoon snaps, "besides, it's just for a week before the new parts for JK 3 comes. a week as a robot for $5000? it's a great deal, jungkook. you should think about it, as an unemployed twenty-year old."

"i'm not unemployed! i'm in school, hyung, i'm a student," jungkook rolls his eyes when namjoon mumbles "it's the same thing".

"come on, kook, do your favourite cousin a favour," namjoon says. "or i'll tell your dad you've been skipping morning classes."

"are you persuading me or threatening me?"

"whatever you think, jeon jungkook." jungkook scoffs.

"fine, i'll pretend to be a robot for a week for $5000. not because i'm unemployed," jungkook says, glancing at namjoon who is beaming his victorious smile. a small smirk creeps up jungkook's lips as he lets out a small, short laugh. he is honestly doing it for the money. because why not. but why not also find out what the infamous park jimin is like? also, jimin is like really hot. so.

_____

it turns out being a robot is really hard.

and although jungkook's getting paid for this, he feels like he had to pay a cost of hearing namjoon and jin screaming half the time.

"you can't look anywhere aimlessly unless you look like you're scanning the area."

"you can't slouch!"

"god, jeon jungkook, the robot might have your face but you can be nowhere similar to that robot."

"oh my god i'm too old to deal with this," namjoon sighs, earning a glare from both jin and jungkook.

"i'm older than you!" jin yells. jungkook could seriously be playing some mario kart right now if namjoon didn't touch JK 3. it made it worse that yoongi wasn't here— he was out to settle the purchase of the new parts— and that meant there was no peacemaker between namjoon and jin, and jungkook had to sit through more time listening to their squabbling.

jungkook sighs and picks up his drink awkwardly with metal parts hugging his torso tightly. it was hard to even breathe properly in this thing. but the plus side was, jungkook got to wear contacts.

really cool contacts. the ones that scans and gives information. like, google glasses but in contact lenses. if jungkook had these for university he'd probably advance through years and graduate in a minute already.

all this effort? park jimin better be impressed of this JK 3, or jungkook would pretend to malfunction in front of him and turn violent mode on. not that it exists, but, well.
