A D A L Y N J O N E S

"Did anyone hear about the new kid?!" One of my mates, Kirsty, decides to shout out across our selected canteen table, cautiously making all four of us — Kirsty, Molly, Emily and I —turn our full attention to her voice... or speech or whatever she wants to call it.

We stare at her wide-eyed, all leaned in, casually flickering our eyes around the backs of each other to make sure nobody else was listening.

My short hair flopped in front of my shoulders as I got closer, "Come on!" I whisper-shout, impatiently waiting for her to spit out whatever she's hiding.

Kirsty raises her eyebrows as both corners of her lips rise up into a grin, "All I know is..."

She pauses for a moment, "He lives on Adalyn's road."

"No way! Oh my god..." A few whispers from the others occur as we all sit back into our seats, shamefully — except for me, of course.

Emily smacks her hand on the table playfully, "Damn it!" I chuckle at her reaction.

"Sorry girls!" I pout my lips as I flick my hair back over my shoulder, pretending that there is some sort of spotlight on me for a moment — and actually enjoying it for once.

"Adalyn you get all the hot guys!" Molly groans, poking out her bottom lip in sadness, crossing her arms over one another and slouching into them.

I raise my right eyebrow in confusion and curiosity, "Who said he was hot?" I take a sip of my water.

Kirsty butts in as she takes a stand and picks up her lunch plate and walks to the end of the table holding it against her stomach. "Duh, of course he's going to be hot. All new kids from different countries are hot."

I choke slightly, slamming my cup of water onto the table. "What?!"

Big mistake.

I take a quick, slow glance around the room to find everyone in the whole damn school staring at me from my loud outburst. Ah, shit.

My face immediately turns a very bright shade of pink, causing me to awkwardly smile and wave followed by laughters of mock and shame in one from the 'audience'.

My face suddenly drops and I turn back to my group around the table who happen to be all laughing as well.

"Hey!" I whisper-shout, trying to cool myself down due to my burning hot, red face.

They carry on laughing, hopelessly.

"Oh, whatever." I roll my eyes, pick up my plate and make my way towards the exit.

I throw away all of the rubbish in the bin and leave the tray on the top. I rapidly sprint out of the ignorance of everyone, ignoring the calls from my friends in the background, and making my way straight to the girls toilets.

As soon as I get to the toilets, a few 'I'm so hot' girls are already in there, puckering their lips in the mirror while gossiping about their disgusting, horrifically done, boob jobs. They certainly didn't get any bigger if that's what you're thinking.
