As each day passes without a call or text from her, I feel myself draining of hope. It's been weeks since she last placed a single eye on me, and I haven't seen her since. Though I told her that I would wait, I can't help but feel as if my own impatience is going to define me soon. I'm already giving up, and the emotions are hard to control.

My thoughts are already telling me that she's done with me, or that she doesn't even care anymore. It's insanely difficult to not listen to them, and I don't know what to do next.

I know I sound selfish though. How can I be impatient when I had told her I would wait?

"Dinner's ready!" My mom yells from downstairs, ending my rush of insecurities.

"I'm not hungry!" I yell back.

I hear her trudging up the stairs, and I roll my eyes as she opens my bedroom door with a plate full of delicious food. She's great at cooking, but I don't think that will be of much use to me right now.

"I'm not hungry," I repeat.

"I'll call your father if you don't eat," my mom warns me. She loves me, but she also knows when to bring in the right weapon to use on me if she needs to.

"No, anything but calling him," I plead with her.

He's the worst person that I could think of talking to right now. I can't bear to deal with him, and

"Eat then," she says.

"I'll go downstairs to the table but I won't guarantee that I'll eat," I say.

It seems like I can't ever guarantee anything.

"Good enough for me, Adelina."

We both go downstairs, and she sets the nice plate of food in front of my regular seat. I sit down, and I find the will to take a few bites. Slowly, it leads to more, and eventually I end up finishing the plate.

"I'm glad you're eating," my mom tells me.

"Only because you're a great cook and it's brought back my eating energy."

My mom gives me a warm smile, and I happily return it.

After some time, I decide that it's time to escape my house and go out. I can't leave my routine behind, not again. Much to my mom's dismay, I get ready to take on the task I've been practicing for the past year.

When I'm finally out on a run, I know that this breath of fresh air was necessary. After a minutes of jogging, I find Alex across the street so I impulsively decide to yell.

My impulsive choices have led to a mixture of results, so I'm just hoping that it'll lead to something good right now.

"Alex!" I call out again.

He turns around and faces me, raising his eyebrows in question. He looks the same as always, but this time he seems more cautious. I think he learned his lesson about walking up to random strangers and trying to become friends with them!

I run over to him and I give him a quick hug.

"I'm sorry, Alex. I didn't mean to hurt you."

I don't quite know what I'm apologizing for, since I don't know in what way I hurt him. But, I think it's best that I do that anyway.

"You didn't hurt me. The reason why I ran was because I saw Jesenia coming towards you, and I thought it would help if you two talked without me there. I was the one that ruined your relationship so I wanted to help you fix it."
