Prologue
The man concelaed himself in the cluttered dark space, situated within the decrepit van that he had grown to despise. The shadows danced across his scowling face, hiding it from the rest of the world, as he continued to watch the two boys intently. They had not noted his presence.
The man was not important enough for a name, yet he was well known across the underground for his advanced skills in stealth and brute force. He was a force to be reckoned with. A thin trickle of rain began to descend as the street lamp flickered and threw a hesitant beam of light across the taller of the two boys, a handsome lad of Semi-Philipino desent. His ebony hair crawled across the span of his forehead and obscured the teen's view as it hung over one eye.
He was laughing, leaning over to playfully punch the smaller of the two, the well-build, bowl-haired child standing with his back to the stalker. The man sat up a little straighter, curling his fingers around the steering wheel in anticipation as yet another desperate pang of longing plagued him. He wanted those boys. In fact, he needed those boys. They were his life.
The rain began to pick up, gathering speed and power until it was a full-blown storm. A crack of lightening illuminated the darkness. A slow, sinister smile crawled across the man's face as the two boys set off at a sprint, surprising him for a minute as the smaller teen took the lead.
He scanned the portfolio that he had prepared for a Mr Hecox, Ian. Understanding lit up the man's dead eyes as he rediscovered this forgotten information. Ian was on the track team. The stalker carefully replaced the file on top of the other child's, and prodded the rusty machine to a slow crawl, carefully tracking the progress of the two competitive and soaking wet teenagers. The time would come.
The van pulled to a stop at the end of the residential street and the man watched intently as the two boy's stumbled inside, the loud clap of thunder that followed drowned out the slam of the Hecox residence's front door.
An arrogant, self-satisfied smirk appeared on the stalker's face. He leaned back into the ragged leather upholstery, preparing himself for what was to happen next. A low giggle escaped from him as a light flicked on in the upper left hand window, clearly broadcasting the young men's silhouettes through the beige drapes.
They were oblivious to his existence and like so many others, they were oblivious to his fury. That would soon change.
