It was an average Friday morning, I was tired but as normal my alarm clock rang and I rolled over and fell off my twin bed well holding my favorite neon green blanket and trying to turn my alarm clock off. "Ohhhhhh" I moaned. I slowly got up off the cold carpet floor. I went to the bathroom and slipped into my pink shirt and black and white stripped skirt and looked in the mirror at my blond hair well combing it, then I brushed my teeth ready. Then I ran down stairs and my mom was down stairs serving my little brother James some fruit loops in his Superman PJs.
"Hey honey" said mom, "good morning my favorite mom and my awesome super man!" I said with my largest smile. "You seem awfuly happy this morning, what are you excited for" my mom asked as she served me some pineapple in a bowl, I ate up the pineapple quickly, "play tryouts" I said. "I did a play in kidergarten, it was about a swamp" said James, "I remember you did the best, you were the best cockroach ever!" I said. "Your buying lunch right Sarah?" mom asked, "yeah and I know, no gluten, I mean I'm 15, I know I'm gluten free" I said. "Just checking" said mom giving me a sly look. Dad walked out wearing his forest green robe with his cup of of coffee, "bye dad" I said, "what" dad moaned.
I ran to the door and grabbed my pink book bag and ran out the front door. I grabbed my teal bike that was chained to the mailbox. Then I biked down the road to school, my school was a large brick school, St.Petersburg high school read the sign that hung above the door, I chained my bike to the bike rack and ran to my friend Riley. "Hey" he said "your trying out for the wizard of Oz right? It's today during 1st period". "Thanks" I replied, his short stubby blond hair sat high upon his head, he was the tallest kid in the school.I troted through the crowd with my second period books hugged tightly to my chest, I pasted down a large hall and at the end of the hall were 2 large doors with curtains that were engaged and painted with a sign that read theatre in bold letters above the door. I walked in and Justin Reid was in the middle for auditioning for the tin man role, the door walked behind me as everyone including Mr. Hanes turned too, Justin slapped his hand on his face and sighed. "From the top" Hanes yelled, I slipped into a seat. "And I've come for a real heart" he said with courage, Justin then sang the tin man song. Hanes wrote a quick paragraph down as soon as Justin finished singing, "Sarah MacLo" Hanes called out.
I walked to the end of the aisle and walked up the stairs onto the dark wood stage and walked into the spotlight which gleamed a spot in the middle of the stage. I hesitated "why this must be quite far from Kansas" I said in my country style voice " take me home, take me home wizard", I could tell I was doing well "there's no place like ham". I gulped, I caught the entire audiences attention from there phones. "Did you, just say, ham" he asked dramatically. I nodded silently and then I replied "give me the weekend and I'll come back on Monday, brand new, then I can audition again". "Fine" he said and then sighed, the bell rang "second period" Hanes yelled.
I knew that with Mr. hanes I had one chance and I had to find an awesome idea to not only get my lines right and I need to get the role. There's a brunch of competition, I just need an idea.
