Don't screw this up.

----------------------------------------

"So...You're Rey, right?"

Great opening, y/n. Real smooth.

Even the way she stood. Damn. It was really hard not to be intimidated.

"Yes. That's me. And you're y/n. I've heard lots about you."

Shit.

"I--uh--what've you heard?"

You thought you'd said that in your head. It wasn't until you got your answer that you realized that you had said it out loud.

"I've heard different things. You have spunk. You blend in with the shadows. Let's just say I put a good word in with the General."

Woah. No one had ever complimented you. Like Ever. Not that there was anything to compliment you on. Well, maybe Poe complimented you sometimes. If you counted all the times that he'd called you a worthless piece of....wait, never mind.

"Yeah, uh, thanks."

You struggled to force a smile whilst thought rushed back into your head.

WOAH. SHE LIKES YOU. Wait..does she though? WHAT IF SHE DOESN'T LIKE ME NOW THAT I'M BEING AWKWARD?? Shut up and act normal, y/n.

Rey sharply turned down a bigger, unfamiliar passage way. Quickly following behind her, you notice it's a lot nicer than the barracks you stayed in. Cleaner, for one. Upper class fighters lingered in the hallway of the massive white corridor. Strapping fighters in pressed uniforms gave you stares. You suddenly felt awkward again. A lowly fighter wouldn't be caught dead in a place like this.

Finally, you came upon a pair of sizeable doors. Rey punched in a code on the tiny keypad next to them. When the durasteel doors opened, your jaw involuntarily dropped a little.

"Here it is!" Rey beamed. She was proud of her room, however humble it may or may not be.

Rey had a huge room. It was definitely like, three times the size of your room. Still small, but the Resistance clearly had its priorities.

Everything was so much better than your room. Even down to simple amenities such as the throw pillows. You caught a glimpse of a full bathroom behind the cracked door, something you could only dream about while sharing the same shower with, like, ten other dudes. A couple chairs sat in the corner, probably for conversations with upper-class fighters. What looked like ancient texts were sitting at a small desk on the opposite corner, some opened to random pages.

This was like something out of a dream.

IS this a dream..?

At least she didn't have to room in the barracks with everyone else. God, those guys were annoying. And loud. And rude. And a lot like you.

You looked back to Rey, who was slightly puzzled at your reaction.

"Is there something wrong? I can fix something if necessary.." She frantically looked around for something to fix. There wasn't anything, though. Everything was so perfect. The homey atmosphere added to the tranquil feel of this simple, yet beautiful masterpiece of a room.

Somebody has OCD..

"No, no it's okay. I just hadn't imagined a room could be so..BIG."

Rey laughed. Her smile could've lit up the entire base, and that's a ton of light.

"Oh. Oh. That's right. I was here to grab my things."

Rey began picking up tools and different things from her room. She opened drawers, picking up items you weren't familiar with. However, she knew where everything was, and managed not to mess with anything less than what was necessary, helping maintain the clean room.

OH SHOOT. I need my stuff, too. Wait. I don't actually have stuff. Should I have stuff? Were we given stuff and I just didn't notice? AM I GONNA BE THE ONLY ONE WHO DOESN'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE DOING??

"I think...that should about do it.." Rey said as she flung a backpack over her shoulder. "Oh, should we get your things then?" She had clearly managed her time well. Unlike some other people you knew...

"Uh..I don't really have anything...I've never been on a mission before.." Your face turned red as you shamefully looked to the floor. You weren't supposed to feel embarrassed as much as you did.

Rey must think you're an idiot.

"I can fix that." Rey reached for her backpack and pulled out a single blaster, nothing of the fancy sort. Nonetheless, it was better than nothing.

"This might prove useful. I suppose it's better than nothing." She said as she handed over the small blaster. It strangely fit in your hand perfectly, which came as a shock to you. Holding the blaster felt right.

*le harry potter vibes

"Shall we go then? Wouldn't want to be late." She didn't wait for an answer as she was already out the door.

"Just a second!" You called out to her from the room. Not that she heard you. She was probably halfway there by now.

Now alone, you started to examine her room further. Hopefully she wouldn't notice... You walked around the tremendous room, letting your eyes drift from one detail to another. It was all to good to just leave behind so quickly. You laid down on her bed, which was softer than any bed you had ever laid down on in your life. Not that that was a lot of beds, but I digress..

God, it was so cozy. You accidentally got comfortable, and your eyes drifted closed as you started to daydream.

You and Rey, going on missions together. Fighting evil, saving the galaxy. Best friends. Her lightsaber and your...blaster thing. An unstoppable team. You are even with your new best friend, swinging and hitting the stormtroopers that are all around. Rey begins swinging harder and faster, you desperately trying to keep up. You almost catch up to Rey, hitting stormtroopers left and right. She quickens her strides, hitting even more stormtroopers. "Rey! Wait up!" you yell, but it's no use. She runs ahead, and you are left behind. Alone. Again. You look around, and the stormtroopers have called for reinforcements, and you are quickly lost in a sea of never ending white and black. You desperately look for a way out. Maybe Rey is coming back? One of the many stormtroopers shoots you in the back, and you scream in pain. Collapsed on the ground, you feel helpless. Tears well up in your eyes as you await your certain death. You fade in and out of consciousness, a throbbing pain around the area of your wound. A dark figure approaches you, breaking through the sea of white. The figure is tall and intimidating, towering over your small figure. It looked down to you, scaring you even more.

"y/n." The figure called. It's voice deep and distorted through the mask it wore. It sent chills down your spine.

"I'm coming for you."

You sat up on the bed with a jolt. You breathed hard, confused and slightly alarmed at what you had just seen.

Shit. These thoughts definitely weren't yours. But screw that, you gotta book it over to the launch bay if you wanna even think about going on another mission..
