-1 week later-
Cass walks Dean out of the hospital, his left hand on Dean's shoulder and his right hand swaying by his side I a steady, peaceful motion. His sweater nearly goes past his thumbs.
Dean's walking fine and has a fun expression on his face, amused by the fact that Castiel thinks he needs to help Dean walk--even though the doctors only wanted Dean to stay in the hospital to monitor him.
"How's baby?" Dean asks, looking at Cass lovingly. Cass had been so helpful towards Dean. Sam had been on a case, so instead of asking Dean anything, Cass helped him in anyway he could; he still made time to visit Dean in the hospital.
"She's fine, I got her polished. I fixed the back windshield. She's even better than when you left her." Cass replies, happier than ever that he could save Dean, that nothing bad happened.
"How's my brother?" Dean asks. Sam hadn't visited, he had been in Minnesota--on a rugaru case. Sam phoned in once, but it was only to make sure Dean was okay. He had also asked what the cause was--it turned out to be all of the burgers that Cass had been feeding him. That bummed Dean out pretty bad.
"Sam's fine, Dean. He told you--rugaru. People were dying. He had to save them." Cass replies, opening up the passenger door. He gestures for Dean to get in.
"Oh, I'm gone for a week and you think you get to drive? Hell no, Cass. I may love you, but there will never come a day. If I'm gone for a week, I'm drivin' her." Dean smiles and squeezes Castiel's shoulder before pushing him into the seat, the soft feel of Cass' sweater making Dean shiver with joy. Damn, it's good to be back.
Cass sighs and chuckles as he buckles up in his seat, so happy that Dean can be back. So damn relieved.
Dean walks over to the other side of the Impala and gets in, buckling his seatbelt. He turns the engine over before laughing. "Damn, you never know how much something means to you until you lose it, huh. Listen to her purr." Dean laughs loudly again before starting to drive away.
"I know, baby. I used to sit back and just think. This was before I met you, and after Bobby killed Balthazar. I would think about Balthazar's smile, his laugh. The way he would twitch his champagne around while he was talking to someone. I used to be sad about all of these things. I used to think I would never love again." Cass lies his head on Dean's shoulder.
They stay silent for a few minutes before Castiel speaks again.
"I guess I should be grateful that Bobby killed him, Balthazar's mom was human. She was battling stage two stomach cancer and back in the day, they had no way of battling it. At least he didn't have to watch her die."
Dean extends his arm around Castiel. "That must have been horrible, baby. I'm so sorry for your loss." Dean comforts.
"Don't be. It was a long time ago, and I have you now." Cass kisses Dean on the cheek, his rough stubble from not shaving for a week tickling Cass.
Instead of pulling away, Cass holds his head in the nape of Dean's neck. He's addicted to Dean's smell and he can't get enough. He closes his eyes and scoots closer to Dean; his warmth trickles it's way into Cass, drifting him into a peaceful bliss to which he never wishes to awaken from. Something perfect that he hopes will never end. Forever, Dean.
