Chapter one: Confrontation
Not for the last time Stephen kept asking himself why he couldn't get her off his mind? Victoria Raynos. He was the Dean for God’s sake and she one of his fellow faculty member. He had thought accepting the dean position at prestigious HeinRich University was going to be a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of Corporate life. But he was finding lately that it also meant a hustle and bustle in his heart and trousers. Sigh
A small knock at the door had him rousing from his thoughts and he quickly spoke the words
“Come In”.
“Mr Rivers I’m sorry to disturb you like this but I didn't see Judy at her desk” Victoria Raynos said in a slightly rushed tone. Damn! Here it was again the clenching in his stomach. He stared at her beautiful face, exquisite really yes that was the word exquisite. With her mixed race genes she had golden skin, big almond shaped hazel eyes, full pouty lips. Her figure was perfect that the only way he could describe it! Small thin waist with full rounded hips and long legs. Her bust was full but not overly just perfect. They were like small cantelopes awhhhhhh! Why was he thinking this way!
“Hello Ms. Raynos, please come in its not a problem” he said lightly giving her a small smile.
“ I wanted a response to my suggestions about meeting the shortfall in the budget for the school trip” Victoria asked
“Ah yes , please take a seat” he pointed at the chair as she hanged back half in half out his door.
“Ms. Raynos some of your fundraising ideas were sound while some a little elaborate. the one I think is most feasible for now and would get everyone involved is the 5k race promotion.”Stephen stated.
With a wry smile on her face Victoria spoke “ so I guess the circus idea was the elaborate one” they both shared a chuckle. “Yes I don’t think the board would appreciate using the kids as target practice on the spinning dart board”Stephen commented.
Today she was wearing a light mint green dress with a beautifully ornamented jade hair pin clasping her long curly mane to the side. Her nails were painted a light pink-he noticed because of the gentle tapping she did every now and again on the arm chair.
Victoria’s point of view
She watched him under her eyelashes. The way his hair was neatly shaved, how his biceps printed through his neatly fitted shirt. He was classy-she never thought she would use that word for a man but he truly was. His silver gray eyes always came as a surprise, she thought she would be used to them by now. Everytime she was around him her body became hyper aware. She was ususally icy towards him just so she could keep herself at a distance. She knew she was attracted to him. So was half the other females on the faculty staff. How could you not he was all alpha male all 6 ft 3 inches of him. With his high cheek bones he look more suited for a romance novel cover than a stuffy traditional school like Heinrich.
“ So when can I go ahead with starting the promotions for the 5k run?”
“I will give the board my endorsement at the next meeting on Wednesday and I will let you know.”
“All the way in Wednesday” Victoria Sighed.
“Your as eager as a young kitten but a week more won’t kill you.”He smirked
“ I’m sure it wont” Victoria said rising to her feet. “ Well I will be on my way, have a good day Mr. Rivers”she said turning to go out the door.
“You don’t like me much do you Ms. Raynos?” He asked
She turned and looked into his eyes, the air tense all of a sudden between them. Her heart thudded through her chest. She knew she had given him reason enough to think that way. But she just didn’t warm up to him like the other ladies did. Or should she say she didn’t fawn over him like they did.
