Walking for what seemed like hours to her, Ashley wearily trudges along the the two lane highway. She hears another car coming from behind and sticks her thumb out hoping for the vehicle to stop and give her a ride. The classic automobile slows and stops as a chubby silver haired woman in her 60's let's the window down and says "Want a lift, dearie?" Ashley happily shakes her head in agreement and climbs in the backseat. The older gentleman drives on, as the woman turns to Ashley and says "Well where are you headed little lady?"
Ashley sighs, still rubbing her aching feet, "Maine, to Angel Lake to be precise."
The woman let out a big laugh and said "Well surprise, surprise! So are we. It's great for fishing there. We go up there once a year. Here, have some chips and a mountain dew, you look done in."
Ashley gratefully accepts the items and scarfs the chips and gulps the soda quickly. As the woman begins talking with her husband, Ashley puts her ear buds in and cranks up the volume on her iPod, relaxing.

Daniel is woken up by a loud and persistent knock. Opening the door, two druggies burst in and demand all his cash, now! Daniel begins fighting them, once again showing off his military training with the Urudu rebels in Pakistan! Swiftly he gets them both down, and pulling his knife, finishes them off in bloody fashion. Grabbing his jacket Daniel gets in the truck and heads Northwest, desperate to find out where Wyatt is now. He drives for several hours, until he comes upon the town of Bangor. Getting out he enters a diner for a hot meal. Chatting up the waitress, he learns that there's a tax assessor office next door. Paying for his meal, he winks at the waitress and heads next door. Inside, Daniel is met by a tall, thin man in a brown suit and a purple bowtie.
"Yes sir, what can I do for you?"
"Could you tell me if Wyatt Wylde has bought a house around here? I'm an old trucking buddy, and heard he was in these parts."
"I'm sorry, mister. I'm not going to be able to give out that kind of information. Not unless you are on the deed. Now, good day, sir."
Daniel is now livid by the man's snobbish attitude, and coming around beside the man, Daniel sticks the knife in the man's ribs and tells him "If you don't give me that information, I'll gut you like a trout! Now, get it!"
Shaking, the man types away and after a few terse moments, tells Daniel "H-here sir, it's the address and even a floorplan."
"Good work, string bean. Now, print that out for me, if you want to see tomorrow!"
Nervously handing the pages to Daniel, who grabs them and stuffs them in his jacket, tells the fearful man to get up and head to that store room. Opening it, Daniel quickly rams the blade in the man's back five times and shoves him into the closet, shutting the door and leaves. Down the road, Daniel thinks to himself "Soon, very soon old buddy! We're going to have such a reunion! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"

In the old station wagon, the elderly couple pull up to the sheriff department and park. Waking up, Ashley is confused and asks what's going on, the woman replies "This is Barney's brother, he's the sheriff here in Daysville. We'll be back in about thirty minutes, you're welcome to hang out in the car, or stretch your legs."
Ashley watches them go I'm and is touched by the family love. Getting out, she sees a man near her and asks how far is Angel Lake, and he tells her about ten miles from town. She grabs her two bags and head's towards the lake.

At Wyatt's cabin, he's busy typing away on the sequel, when his cellphone rings.
"Hello. Oh hey. Yeah, I'm over halfway through... what are you talking about? There's no way I can make it ready by this Friday! No...no! Susan, you're fired!" Wyatt slams his phone down and throws his chair against the wall!
"Mr . Wylde! Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Mrs. Dawson. I'm.. sorry about my out burst."
Picking up his chair, Wyatt sits down and realizes his hands are shaking. He gets up and drives into town to Doc Rivers office. After two hours the doctor gives Wyatt a prescription for Atavan for anxiety.

Daniel arrives just a few hundred yards from the cabin, watching the housekeeper and the puppy play in the yard. Mrs. Dawson goes back in, leaving the puppy outside. Daniel gets out and begins calling and whistling at the puppy, and it trustingly runs up to Daniel, who  picks up the loving pup. Grinning, he sits down on the front bumper, and gets a devious idea.

Arriving home nearly four hours later, Wyatt gets out and as he looks towards the lake at sunset, he notices something that's on his security light pole. Walking up, he is horrified to see his puppy, gutted and skinned, hung by his tail, attached by three silver headed nails! Disgusted, he gently takes what's left down and buries him near a Willow tree. Mrs. Dawson, crying, tells Wyatt goodnight and to careful. Going inside, Wyatt locks every door and window, gets his .357 magnum out, loads it with .300 grain cartridges. He lays down on the couch and keeps an ear open.

After midnight, Wyatt hears footsteps on the porch floor, and the screen door squeaks open, and then several knocks on the door. Getting up slowly, Wyatt holds the gun behind him, and opens the door and is flabbergasted!
"Wyatt my love!"
"Ashley?! What.. what are you doing here?"
She embraces Wyatt and kisses him passionately! Taken back, Wyatt pulls away, with a look of disgust on his face. Shocked that he pulled away from her, and by his expression, tears well up in her eyes and she turns, running out into the dark!
"Ashley...wait! You don't have to leave! I was just... shocked." Sitting down, still in bewilderment, Wyatt grabs his keys and cranks his Jeep 4×4 up and heads down the dirt road to look for her.
A couple miles away, Daniel is woken up by the sounds of someone running, and seeing her, he opens his door, and she slams into it hard! He picks her up and puts her in the truck and drives back to town.
