The next day at school is mostly the same. The teachers going on and on about things we'll never need to know, students gossiping, and the usual bullying. It was all the same until on the way to third period a boy ran into me and I dropped all my books. He immediately dropped down to help me pick them up, and apologized.

"I'm so sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going. Let me help you pick these things up."

As he kneeled down his black hair drooped in front of his eyes and I didn't get a good look at his face until he stood up with my things. His eyes were a beautiful crystal blue. "Again I apologize for running into you. Anyways, I'm Josh. Today is my first day at this school." He flashed a smile that could light up a room.

I was completely astounded that anyone would apoligize to me, usually people would just tell me to watch where I was walking and walk away.

"Hi, My names Hannah. Its nice to meet you." I say. I don't know what to say next and am afraid of embarrassing myself so I just say "I need to get to my next class or I'll be late, thank you" and hurried off.

During sixth period, just as the bell rang Josh came in and sat in the usually unoccupied sear next to me. The teacher then stood up and introduced him.

"Hello class, as you may have noticed, we have a new student. His name is Josh Herondale."

She gave him his short introduction and got on with class. The whole time Josh didn't say a word to anyone and took careful notes on Ms. Murch's lecture.

After the bell rang Josh came over to me in the hallway.

"Again I want to say sorry for running into you in the hallway. Maybe I can make it up to you by taking you to a movie on friday night?" I was so taken back by this answer that I just stood there open mouthed for a minute. Me? On a date? No one had ever even asked me out on a date before, especially with all the rumors that are spread about me. I finally gather my wits and reply.

"Um, Okay."

"Alright, then, I'll pick you up at seven. here's my number, just text me your address. " He gave me a slip of paper with his numbet and flashed that smile that radiated warmth. I just nodded my head and took the paper and walked away, unable to think of what to say next.

I made sure to avoid Ericka and her gang om the way to my car and drove home. I thought, Maybe this will be one good day. I thought that until I opened the door to my home and realized that my hopes were false.
