Trouble

Living with a bunch of guys would be fun… it really would. But the problem was who it was. I mean, if they were someone else, I would have gladly let them in my house. But not One Direction. Just no.
Parents are gone… And it already feels like it’s been ages.

“Wake up!” Liam yelled, kicking Caroline in the leg and she rolled over. Straight after her and the boys had gotten home, she slammed the door of her bedroom shut and went to sleep. One less day she’d have to put up with it.

Caroline groaned as she was kicked in the leg again. “Oi, slut. Wake the fuck up now.”

Slowly enough, she opened her eyes, blinking a couple of times to focus on what was kicking her. “I’m up!” she said sleepily.

“Good.” Liam said wickedly. “Guess what, skank. I’m looking after you today.”

“Oh, how wonderfully great then.”

See, the thing about Liam is that he seems the innocent type. But he’s not. He’s really not. You never know what is going to happen and everything seems to come as a surprise.

With that, Liam left Caroline to get up and get dressed after yelling out numerous times for her to hurry up.

About an hour later and Caroline was ready to go out wherever Liam was going to take her.

“Whore. Get in the car. We are going out.” He spat. “And don’t bother trying to escape.”

She shook my head slightly as Liam raised an eyebrow, studying me. “Where are we going?” Caroline asked curiously, opening the front door and taking small steps to the car.

“Out.”

“Where?”

“Why?”

“Because.”

“Out.”

“Where?"

“SHUT THE FUCK UP WILL YOU!” he roared, pushing her against the car. “GET THE FUCK IN THE CAR AND SHUT THAT MOUTH OF YOURS.”

Caroline, began to shake, scared that he was going to hit her, although she knew it was coming. She slowly opened the back seat car door and got in, slamming the door shut after her.

Liam got into the front seat, closing the door and started the car. “Buckle up.”

Caroline did as she was told and sat back as Liam drove.

They drove for about 20 minutes before Liam stopped the car. Looking around, Caroline saw nothing. It was just bare land with a couple of trees to the side of the path.

“Do you have your mobile phone?” Liam asked, rather kindly.

“No.” She replied.

“Good.”

“Why?”

“Get out.” He got out of the car and Caroline did too, continuing to look around at the surroundings.

“Why are we here?” Caroline asked.

“We need to get wood for our house.” Liam said. “Go over there and fetch some for me.” He pointed to a tree off the road.

Caroline nodded slowly and again did as she was told. She wandered over to the tree that Liam had pointed to and kicked the branch.

Suddenly, she heard a car engine start and she glared at Liam, who had already jumped back into the car and was about to drive off. “See you at home!” he called out to her, bitterly, a wicked smirk stuck on his face. “Bye!” and with that, he drove away.

Caroline groaned and let the tears fill up in her eyes as she looked around seeing no cars going past, no one in view and no directory. Slowly, she began to start walking in the direction that she remembered they came from.

Great. No phone. No car. No way to get home. 20 minutes away and that’s just in the car, not walking. Wow, this is going to take me a while.

HARRY’S POV.

Dear Diary he started, writing in a spare journal that was completely empty. He stared at the blank paper before starting to write again.

I don’t normally write but… I don’t actually know why I am writing now. But I have a girlfriend. I asked her out a couple of days ago. None of the boys no about it, but I’m really just using her for the sex. She’s not my type and I’m not even bothering to try. Her name’s Maggie. And she goes to Caroline’s school or something. I think she really likes me though, I don’t know. I mean, I’m a star – everyone loves me; I’m Harry fucking Styles.

Anyway, you want to know how I feel, right?

So basically, I feel alright. Everything is pretty good and nothing is going wrong. Except for one thing; I think I’m falling for someone. I think someone else is falling for the same person. And what’s worse is how I treat her. I can’t stop or else people will think something is wrong.
Why do I treat her the way that I do?

Because. I treat her like this because of what happened when we first met. She was absolutely gorgeous. But she wasn’t like the other girls. She was wearing trackies and was all calm.

I began to stare at her – I don’t know why, I just couldn’t help it.
Harry looked up, out the window. His bedroom was quite large, his bed placed in the middle of his bedroom. His window overlooked Caroline’s house, but he continued to watch the empty house, expecting to see someone, anyone.

Long story short: I kissed her and went to grab her… Don’t ask I was stupid and rather drunk… She slapped me and stormed off.

I don’t exactly know why the other boys feel the same way I do… Maybe it’s because I told them that she hit me… I don’t know. But after that, I promised myself that I was going to hate her, as hard as that might be.

Harry closed his eyes and slammed the journal book closed and placed it in a box under his bed. He threw the pen at the wall in anger, going over everything that he had just written down. Did he really hate someone because of what he did?

CAROLINE’S POV.

After a good couple of hours of walking, Caroline was almost ready to fall over. And she wasn’t even home yet. She was actually nowhere near her home.

Stumbling across the road, Caroline wiped her forehead, becoming rather dehydrated with the sun pelting down on her.

She glanced as far as she could see down the road and saw the front of a car coming towards her extremely fast. She blinked, the car quickly turning into a buffalo as it still continued to run.

As fast as Caroline’s feet would take her she sprinted to the other side of the road, her eyes telling her that the image was almost about to hit her. She waited and waited but the image never came past her.

Caroline rubbed her eyes but continued to walk. She was immediately stopped by a big blue sign that stood on the side of the road. Help Phone: 400metres

With a small sigh of relief, Caroline walked towards the direction which the sign was indicating. Slowly, but she was getting there.

Who would she call? Her parents? They wouldn’t answer – can you even call another country just from a help phone? Liam? Why would he answer to her phone call?

After a bit of time, she reached the phone and took it off the hinges. She dialled her home number and let it ring.

Ring, ring…

Ring, ring…

No answer.

Caroline cursed under her breath and threw the phone back on its stand, kicking the ground which lifted the gravel up slightly.

Remembering something, her face lit up. Her parents had gotten her to remember the next door neighbours phone numbers just in case of an accident, and it hit Caroline like a ton of bricks.

Caroline remembered the boys number.

Jabbing her finger into the buttons violently, she dialled the number.

Ring, ring…

Ring, ring…

“Hullo?” came a voice from the other end of the phone line.

“Harry is that you?” She asked, glancing around and sounding rather cheerful to hear his voice.

“Yeah, who’s this?” he questioned.

“It’s Caroline.”

“Oh, what do you want? Liam’s supposed to be taking care of you. Don’t call me.” He spat.

“Actually, I called your home. How was I supposed to know you’d answer?”

Harry sighed. “What do you want?”

“Helllooooo!” came a voice from Harry’s end. Caroline’s wild guess was that Niall had just gotten home or woken up.

“Hello Niall.” Harry greeted.

“Who are you on the phone to?” Niall questioned.

“Caroline.”

“What does she want?”

“I don’t know…” he began to talk to Caroline again. “What do you want?”

“I need someone to pick me up… please. Please.” Her eyes began to fill up with tears as she let them fall down her cheeks. “Please come and find me, I’m lost and he left me… And I need water…” she groaned slightly, feeling rather ill now. “Please hurry.”

“Caroline? Caroline? What are you talking about? Where are you?” Harry asked, sounding rather worried.

“I-I-I don’t know… somewhere on a main road. Please hurry. I don’t feel well and I’m seeing things… I…”

Caroline dropped the phone, letting it dangle as she threw up on the ground just below the phone. “Please….” She managed to get out inbetween being sick.

“I’m on my way. I know where you are.” Harry said. “Niall, you’re coming with me. Quick.” And with that, Harry hung up the phone. Caroline sat there against the phone, holding back the urge to be sick.

* *

Harry and Niall took off towards the car; for some strange reason, Harry thought he knew exactly where she was.

Harry jumped into the car and started the engine, as the two boys sat there in silence, driving off.

After a couple of minutes of sitting in the quiet car, Niall was the first to speak. “What happened? Why are we in such a hurry? You didn’t even give me time to eat, Harry! I’m starvin’!” he exclaimed.

“Caroline’s in trouble. She’s lost and–” he started.

“Wait a second, why do you suddenly care about Caroline, Harry?” Niall inquired.

“I… I don’t. It’s just that if she’s not here, what… what will her parents think about us?”

Niall shook his head slightly, a small smirk playing at the corner of his lips.

“What?” Harry smiled, noticing Niall’s smirk.

“No. Nothing.”

“What?” he repeated.

“Nothing.”

“Tell me.”

“You care about her, don’t you?”

Harry automatically went mute at this comment, focusing on the road.

Niall’s smirk grew larger as he continued. “It’s okay, mate. I know how you feel.”

“No, you don’t. Why would I like a scum like her? I have a girlfriend.”

Niall become offended at the comment of her being scum, but quickly put it behind him, choosing to ignore it. “You have a girlfriend? Since when?”

“Caroline goes to school with her. Maggie.”

Niall nodded slowly. “You know she bullies Caroline at school…”

“Why do you care?”

“I don’t.” Niall muttered, straight away. Just below a whisper, he muttered to himself. “I do care, can’t you tell.”

“What was that?” Harry asked. Inside Harry’s head, he thought he heard what Niall said, but he didn’t want it to be true – he really didn’t want it to be true.

“Nothing…” Niall whispered. “Where is she anyway?”

“Just around the corner from here…”
