Chapter 1: Feeling Older

Hiro's POV

It's been a whole summer since the incident in Disney. Man, wasn't that such a long time ago? Tons of heartache and despair lingered all over while we were there. Ironic how it's said DisneyWorld is the "Happiest Place on Earth". Even after the mess, on our way home everyone was silent and squirmy, as if Pitch wasn't really gone and he was going to pop up somewhere. He didn't. I was fidgety too, to confess. I still get flashbacks of when Tadashi..died. I know, I know. He's okay now so why should I be worried? Honestly, I have no idea. I guess it's some weird PTSD thing. I can just hear what others would say about that. 'But Hiro, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is only for people in the military.' Not all the time. It could be from a devastating past memory, like seeing a loved one die right in front of you. So I haven't told anyone about this. Again, I realize that every time I kept something from someone, it backfires. I just don't think I should bother people with my issues.

Anyway, since school ended, I've let my hair grow longer. It didn't grow much, but you can tell it grew some. On top of that, I get to start my first day of tenth grade...yay. Okay, school isn't that horrible. I mean, I do pretty good in every class I have, since I'm a kid genius, no need to brag ;). Ahem. I had Wilbur spend the night last night so we could walk to school together today. He hasn't changed much at all over the summer just spending more time with Violet, being a good boyfriend and all.
I woke up earlier than him, surprisingly wide awake. Wilbur on the other hand, not so much. I sat on my bed and just watched him on his air mattress snoring away. Tadashi was already downstairs with 30 minutes left till school starts. I roll my eyes since this was a usual thing. I hopped off my bed and stood in front of his mattress, and kicked him over. He gasped, jumping up in a karate stance. Then he realized it was me and stopped. I laughed, "You're such a weirdo." Wilbur rubbed his eyes, showing his sleepiness, "Well, this is gonna be the outcome of you sneaking up on me like that."

"Whatever, dude." Beep beep. I turn and see my phone vibrate on my side table. I walk over to it to look at who texted me. It was Penny. I smiled inside and out. She texted, 'Are you excited for school today??' Penny is the best girlfriend you can ever ask for. Sure there were a lot of rough times, but that was mostly caused by me. I responded to her, 'I'm excited as long as I get to see you:)' Wilbur, who was peering over my shoulder, awed at the text I sent. I just shove him playfully away, "Oh come on, let's get ready for school now." So we headed down the steps for breakfast, after our routine, and found a nice breakfast filled with pancakes, eggs and bacon. The scent of it all filled my nose and made my mouth water. Wilbur was already at the table with excitement, "Oh, THANK YOU AUNT CASS!" Tadashi laughed sitting at the table, "Yeah, she made all of this for our send offs. You two to tenth grade and..me to college."
He frowned and I did as well. I was pretty bummed my brother wouldn't be close to me anymore but I should be happy for him, right? My frown faded when Aunt Cass came into the room. She turns to my brother and I with a smile, "My boys are growing up!" We came in for a hug and held each other when Wilbur put his arms out, "Can I get into this family love?" I answered playfully, "No way, cooties." Wilbur jabbed me in the arm and I cackled. We sat down and started to eat. The taste swirled around in my mouth, but that feeling evaporated when I saw the look on my brother's face staring at his food.
He sighs and I realize what was wrong. After this week, he'll be off to college and away from us. I was upset about it as well but I chose to not think about it, even if it pained me. He is my best friend and I hate to see him go. I actually started to like the walks with him home, now I'll be all alone. Tadashi spoke up, "Uh, Hiro, you and Wilbur should head to school now.." I tried to smile at him, "He's right Wil, we don't go we'll be late." Wilbur made a straight face standing up to receive his bag, "It's Wilbur." I mumble a whatever to him and we went out the door..not until getting a hug from Aunt Cass.

Penny's POV

I sigh looking at the text from my boyfriend, "Oh Hiro.."

"Oh Hiro..." I turned around and roll my eyes at who mimicked me, "Oh stop it, Violet. You must be like that too when Wilbur texts you." She shrugs, "Not really. He's the obsessive one in the relationship, not me." I only say, "Ok then, let's just get to school." We were already dressed with our hair brushed. In the mirror, I realized how much we've grown, how much has changed. This past year really put us to the test. Getting trapped in a building fire, going to my first prom as a freshman, and being pushed against my will's end in DisneyWorld. Violet and I grew physically and emotionally. I could tell how much change Violet had faced. Even myself, look very different then I had before. Leaving the mirror, we walked down the hall to the kitchen. Violet spent the night last night and we had a blast. I knew Hiro and Wilbur were hanging out together too. It's kinda funny how the best friends hang out at the same time. It's a little creepy actually... Anyway, we made it downstairs and we had some cereal. Violet asked me, "Why are you so excited to go to school anyway?" I asked with a smile, "To see all my friends again."

"But you've seen us over the-" I stopped her, "I didn't mean you guys. I meant those friends that aren't in our group, like Penny, Tip and Jamie." Violet nodded, "Oh yeah I forgot about them." I shoved her and she laughed, "I'm just kidding!" We both laughed then. I look and see my mom staring at me as if she was afraid. I frown, "Mom, is something wrong?" She answered, walking towards me, "I need to tell you something." I ask with concern, "What is it?"
There was a small pause when my mother suddenly smiled and said, "You have a good day at school, I'll tell you later." I smile, glad it wasn't anything too crucial, "Ok, love you." I hugged her and Violet and I grabbed our backpacks and left the house in silence. Violet nudged me, "What was that about?" I shake my head, "I have no clue. It was pretty odd, but she told me she would tell me later so I shouldn't worry, right?"

"I guess so." I push those thoughts away and ask her, "So, how's Dash holding up about going back to school?" She sighed, "Surprisingly, he loves it. Probably excited to see that special someone."

"Penny Peterson?"

"Nope, he likes Vanellope again." I groan, "You gotta be kidding.."

"I am not. He said and I quote," she starts to recite like Dash, "'I made a terrible mistake and I'm gonna try to make her mine.'" I giggle, "Eighth graders, am I right?" Violet smirked, "Definitely." Suddenly we heard something in the distance and turned around. There was nothing there. Was something following us? We just looked at each other and shrugged, continuing on our way.

???'s POV

Penny Forester and Violet Parr, at least that's what they call them. Huh, they just laugh and goof around as if everything's ok. They will be punished on what they were associated with. Jack Frost..that man, I could just--. I disappear in a black mist. There time will end soon. I will get my vengeance on what they did to him, no matter the cost.
