So, like before (and always) I'm getting a lot of comments about how the contract and marriage between Ace and Mindy is illegal in America.
I know that the story isn't taken place in the old days, but even when "arranged marriages have declined in prosperous countries" (Jodi O'Brien, 1) arranged marriages are still seen in different countries.
"A marriage was a negotiation and decision between parents and other older members of two families. The boy and girl were typically told to get married, without a right to consent, even if they had never met each other until the wedding day" (Fricke, Chang, and Yang.)
"Parents or guardians select, the individuals are neither consulted nor have any say before the marriage (forced arranged marriage)"
And for the contract, do you want me to change Ace's age to 17? Since he's 18, he's not considered as a minor. But if he's seventeen, then he is, meaning he has to have a parent/guardian consent to the contract. I mentioned that Mr King did sign the contract, so maybe I should just change Ace's age.
You know what? I'm done.
I know that I'm going to get a bunch of hate comments for this, but I don't care.
I'm going to write whatever I want, however I want. I don't care about what other people say. Illegal or not, THIS IS FICTION. I'm going to decide how I want to write it.
I'll probably go back and fix some things after I'm finished writing, but until then, comment your option. Even if it's bad. I can handle a lot of criticism because I get it daily. Online and offline.
