Gregor looked at his reflection from the blade. his face was worn and covered with scratches. He looked unsure what to think about it then went back to polishing his sword. people walked by here and there but he payed them little mind he wanted to finish cleaning his equipment and get back to his post before any orcs noticed the gap in their perimeter. He soon finished with his sword he then put it back in its sheath and got up from the piece of masonry He was sitting on the wall was not far from where He was so it was an easy walk. He Found a bow was sitting in the rubble nearby and he picked it up it would be useful if in the future. He found a good place to sit and resumed looking around the orcs camp.
He couldn't see much but it was easy to tell that they were preparing for some kind of assault masses of them were pouring from the side streets and gathering around some kind of large battering ram. Then it began to move slowly but its pace soon sped up He got up instantly and sprinted to the alarm bell why hadn't the guards already rang it? When he arrived at the gatehouse he found the the door blown open and the men inside slaughtered he drew his blade and walked slowly towards the bell He was about halfway there when something sprang on him from behind catching him completely by surprise he dropped his torch and tried to grab his attacker but his attempts just made its blows harder so he turned and slammed his back into the wall his assailant squealed with pain but kept pounding him so he slammed into the wall three more times until he heard the crunch of bones breaking and the the thump of a body hitting the ground. not wasting any time to see what he killed he ran to the bell and began to strike it with a nearby hammer the resulting sound echoed through the city clamor rose from the inner walls and horns signalled the soldiers rally but then a loud bang came from the direction of the gate along with the war horns of the orcish horde.
As fast as he could he made for the battlement sheathing his blade and drawing his bow as he went. The gate was in bad shape already but that ram was making it worse by the second if the soldiers didn't arrive soon the gates would fall and the city soon after. he got to the battlements and looked over to the other side, his face went pale with pure fear thousands of orcs goblins and hundreds of ogres were just waiting to storm through the gate and some new warchiefs with wyvern mounts hade showed up to they didn't stand a chance if the gates were overrun this fight would be one of the worst fought in this entire war.
The echoing sound of the alarm bell made her jolt awake and instinctively she donned her armor and grabbed her weapons.Eleanor had spent years fighting in wars and she knew something bad was going on as soon as she had everything she ran towards the gate faster than she had ever ran before. adrenaline rushed through her as she went to join Gregor who was most likely already there. She glanced to the sky and saw Derolth with John atop him racing towards the gates. Soldiers were pouring out of side streets and alleyways to join the growing force.
It wasn't long before she made it to the gates they were cracked and about to fall and she saw Gregor above on the battlement emptying his quiver into the mass of orcs. Climbing the stairs she joined him sheathing her daggers and stringing her bow. "Ho there!" He called "They started this soon before i got here something broke in and killed everyone station at the alarm bell." What?" She asked in the middle of drawing her bow. "I Don't know honestly i was a little busy with sounding the alarm..." A loud crash interrupted him along with the thunderous sound of hundreds of greenskins running through the gateway.
Gregor threw his bow away and drew his sword Eleanor quickly followed pulling out her twin daggers. Gregor sprinted down the stairs but that would take to long she turned and leaped down to a roof below. The impact buckled her knees but she caught herself and jumped off the other ledge. She landed in the middle of a battlefield soldiers and orcs were cutting each other down, goblins were jumping on men and pulling them to the ground striking them as they went, Gregor jumped into the fray pushing back the goblins and orcs with his steel. Eleanor quickly got up and joined him, killing as she went. She got to his side in seconds but they were soon assailed from all sides fighting back to back they blocked, counter'd, thrust and cut many orcs but they just kept coming at them in a relentless rage. They were pushed from the gates to a nearby courtyard soldiers were fighting around them and they were losing ground by the second.
She was about to kill an orc in front of her when a sword burst through its chest it made a gurgling sound them fell revealing John standing there he looked at her then went to Gregor who was fighting off four orcs simultaneously. The courtyard shook as Derolth landed on top of a group of goblins crushing the life out of them with his bulk one stabbed his side with a spear trying to aid its comrades. Snarling Derolth lunged at it grabbing it in his jaws and shaking his head around so violently its spine broke he then threw its maimed corpse over the walls and went towards the inner gates molten fire pouring from his maw.
Derolth was filled with bloodlust the orcs were attacking his riders city killing hundreds of unarmed citizens he stormed towards the main gates unable to contain the fire within him. Any men he encountered quickly got out of his way they did not dare stand in the path of an angry dragon when he got to the main gates he could smell the amount of blood that had been spilt. The orcs were pouring from the main gates he bellowed and unleashed a relentless storm of fire hot enough to melt stone it incinerated the orcs and spread out into their reserve forces as well.
He held onto the flame for several minutes relashing in the dying screams of the orcish horde. When the fire started to die out he released it with a clamp of his jaws. The nearby men began cheering but something was off orcs never ran from just fire they pulled back for a reason he began to wonder why when suddenly an ogre burst through the gateway bellowing a challenge at Derolth it was using a tree trunk as a makeshift club Derolth knew he would win this so he snarled back and crouched down low and waited until the right moment to pounce on it.
