Chapter 17

HI...Sheepish smile on my face

"Won't we have to get back to the others, like now?!" I asked Midnight, trying really hard to avoid the topic that was next to come.

"Yeah. We should actually go now but we aren't until you talk. What was going on with you when that boy handed you that paper. I bet everyone nearby heard that heart of yours flutter." Midnight said, putting her her hands on her hips.

"I don't know what happened or what was going on. I don't even know why I had that type of reaction." I answered honestly.

"Do you think there's a connection between you two?" She asked while slowly walking down the tunnel.

I sighed but still answered her to the best of my ability.

"Yes. It's a very strong connection to. I wanted to jump him or something, I don't even know."

"I see." Was her bright answer.

"Midnight, I love Tre. I hate how I just felt with that other man but, I need to find out more." I shook my head.

"I've heard of people having two soulmates and this might or might not be whats going on with you. What I do know is that you're right. We are going to find out more about him. So, after we find Kyle, we are going to be careful and send you on a date with him, while I stay hidden in the shadows." Midnight said as we finally neared the end of the tunnel.

"That seems a bit dangerous but ok. When we were in the car earlier, you gasped liked you realized something shocking, what was it?" I asked.

"You'll see later. Hold you hand out like this so we can see what the elders have decided." Midnight said while cupping her hands.

I copied her movements and seconds later I saw something shimmer in each of our hands. When the object came into focus, I realized that it was the jeweled necklace. I looked over to Midnight to see her slipping on the jeweled ring.

The second after I had the necklace securely around my neck, I was being lifted by my ankles. Startled, I looked down at Midnight.

"Slowly lift up the door to see if anyone is around." She said.

"Ok, but is this tunnel sound proof or something?" I asked while lifting up the camouflaged door.

"Yep, the closets too."

After I saw that the coast was clear, I opened the door the rest of the way before Midnight lifted me the rest of the way out. When I was out of the way she jumped out after me.

She closed the door, once again making it blend in with the rest of the terrain. Next she looked over at me and I knew what to do. I grabbed her hand and envisioned us back at Tre's place.

Not even two seconds after we materialized, Midnight face the rest of the party and said,

"We need to go, now."

Tre nodded and went to some other part of the house. When he came back, he had a small but deadly looking blade in his hand that I thought he would hand to Midnight.

Instead, he looked at me and pulled what I thought was the blade off to reveal a strong looking stake. When he slid the blade looking thing back on, I immediately understood what he meant.
