It was quite a dark and miserable night with a sinister darkness lurking around the edges, however, the five pretty girls sitting around joking and laughing seemed oblivious, they had no idea what was to come, and if they knew they would never have left the safety of their rooms.
In a barn sat five naive girls waiting for their friend, Alison DiLaurentis, the queen bee of Rosewood high, they were talking and laughing amongst themselves waiting to start their sleepover, their names were just as beautiful, Hanna, Emily, Aria, Spencer and Casey.
Each girl had their flaws which Alison took advantage of and Hanna's was her size. You couldn't call her fat and ugly for she was anything but, although you couldn't call her skinny either. She ate away her emotions, and she sure had a lot of them. She had excellent taste in fashion but never got to show it off for she could never find any clothes that fit her unique figure. She was smart but played dumb and never stood up for herself. You could see her radiant smile for a mile away and even a stranger can see her kind heart which grows as time goes. Hanna had beautiful long, blonde hair which she usually put up in a low ponytail, she had quite fair skin and often wore a baggy t-shirt to hide her size. She often wore a mixture of jeans and skirts in all styles as long as they would be considered reasonably fashionable.
Emily's flaw was not a flaw but rather who she was and there was nothing wrong with that, but unfortunately, she didn't see it that way and once more her so-called friend, Alison, took advantage of her vulnerability. For Emily, although she had not admitted it yet, was gay and Alison saw it as a perfect opportunity to mess with Emily's feelings, maybe underneath all Ali's bitchiness, she really did like her back, but she never dared to show it. Emily was a swimmer and a good one of that, she could beat any record and always was the player that brought her team to victory. She was loyal and compassionate and always tried her best to see the best in people and always succeeded and quite often she was right too. Emily has unique dark coloured skin, brown eyes and a head full of brunette hair. She wore more sporty clothes and often had a smile on her face with her hair trailing down her cheeks.
Aria was the artsy one, she enjoyed literature and crafts, and the flaw Ali used against her was not her own entirely but rather her father's infidelity. He had cheated on his wife, Arias's mother, with one of his students, Aria's mistake was hiding this information from her mother and Ali never missed an opportunity to tell her so. Aria could often be found buried in a book or at a Hollis studio used for art, she had pink stripes through her dark brunette hair and had more of a Gothic style in fashion. Aria was what you could only describe as a romantic and believed in true love, the kind you would find in a fairy tale and no one ever dared to tell her she was naive.
Spencer was one of the few girls who stood up for herself although not always, Spencer's family was complicated, they had many lies and secrets hidden in the cracks and just like every little liar, Spencer had her own secrets as well. Although she told little untruths and kept certain parts of her life a secret nothing was too dangerous until the little incident including a now revengeful Jenna Marshall. She had a bad habit of falling for her sister's boyfriends and it all started with Ian Thomas, for Ali witnessed a kiss between the two and made sure Spencer never forgot it. Little did Spencer know the real reason for Alison's true interest in the kiss, she not only wanted to hurt Melissa, Spencer's sister but to break them up, so she could have Ian all to herself. Spencer was a smart girl, the smartest in rosewood you could say until you compared her to her sister which her family often did, the Hastings was a competitive family and there was no such thing as second best; they believed if you tried your best you should attain the best grades possible and win at every competition and Spencer being a Hastings believed the same thing. Spencer once more had brunette hair and had a more formal, presentable style.
And finally Casey, she was just as smart as Spencer maybe smarter although she preferred maths and sciences, particularly astronomy. Alike, Spencer who played field hockey and Emily the swimmer, Casey was athletic and played lacrosse, she was similar to Aria to for she was artsy although she wasn't so fond of writing but instead fond of music and drawing. The blonde was quite like Alison for she always said what was on her mind, rude or not, but she never let Ali get away with her teasing anyone especially not her friends who unlike the girls extended to the less popular people like Lucas and occasionally even Mona, even though she didn't always trust Mona for she was desperate for acceptance even if it meant changing who she was. Casey's flaw was in fact who she liked, like Ali's mystery boyfriend, he was an older boy, Casey and this mystery man weren't together but this did not stop them from sharing some intimate moments and occasionally kissing when caught up in the moment. She didn't care so much about the fact Alison knew of her feelings towards the boy, but more of the fact he had a girlfriend that Alison constantly threatened on outing her to, this annoyed the brunette often causing her to return the blackmailing, for she saw right through her act and was smart at figuring out her secrets. Ali and Casey had basically grown up together for Casey lived next door to the Dilaurentis' and opposite the Hastings, with her brothers Carter and Riley. Her mother had died when Casey was twelve and after that her father was never really around so Carter who was six years older looked after her and her brother who was two years younger. Alison and Casey had been best friends since they were a few months old when the Dilaurentis' first moved to the mysterious town that is Rosewood. The blonde also befriended a very unpopular Spencer at the time and secretly preferred her over Alison. Casey had hazel eyes complimented by her blond hair with pink highlights. She was slightly tanned and didn't care much about fashion but instead wore what she was comfortable with which was usually jeans and a baseball t-shirt, for Casey had a more casual clothing style and was often found wearing a hoodie.
Alison, she was the queen bee and very few dared to cross her for they knew she would take them down, just like she had a certain Marshall. She was beautiful but no more than the other girls, but she knew how to manipulate so in seconds she had everyone at her knees, the girls wanted to be her and the guys wanted to be with her. She was a typical mean girl with her followers close behind, she had the losers she picked on and that one girl who stood up to her but in a strange twist, that girl was her best friend and one of the girls in her group, Casey. Spencer also stood up to her but it took her a while to finally realise that she didn't need Ali to be special but by then it was too late to tell her what she thought. Alison had many secrets ones the girls, not even Casey knew, she lived a double life which sometimes even turned into a triple life, she even had the wig and outfit to go with her new identity. Alison knew she had enemies, but she never knew that people actually not only disliked her but hated her, she didn't see how it was possible, and so she let her guard down and never watched her back, but she should have. She really should have.
