Faye sat in the room of Snape's task, in tears. She could hear everything Harry and Quirrell yelled. She also heard a third, cold, voice. One she did not recognize.
She jumped up as she heard Quirrell scream in pain, and the cold voice screaming "KILL HIM! KILL HIM!"
All of a sudden, the purple flames extinguished and in ran Professor Dumbledore. He looked at her and waved his wand. The black flames shot higher before disappearing. Faye followed the professor with her wand out as he ran into the final chamber yelling for Harry. She watched as Quirrell rolled off of him, his face badly burnt, and nearly screamed as a vaporous figure emerged from his body and lunged at her. Almost instinctively, she held up her hand.
"Ácwele!" She called and felt her eyes burn, this time with the knowledge that her eyes were turning gold. She missed the figure, but it turned and shot up through the ceiling and, most likely, out of the castle.
Faye turned to where Dumbledore was trying to wake Harry, she picked the red stone up, The Philosophers Stone, she realized. She squeezed it and almost dropped it when a goldish liquid dripped over her fingers. She got an Idea.
She rushed over to Harry's side and opened his mouth before holding the stone over it and squeezing. The golden liquid trickled out of the stone and into his mouth. Slowly, the color returned to him, and his breathing evened out. Dumbledore turned to her in shock as she dropped the stone and tried to pick him up.
"We've got to get him out of here!" She cried at him, and the old professor seemed to snap back to reality. He easily picked Harry up and rushed out of the chamber. Faye quickly picked up Harry's wand and the stone before rushing after him. They made it easily to the trap door's corridor, and to Faye's shock there was now a staircase.
Professor Dumbledore rushed up the stairs and to the Hospital Wing, Faye following behind.
They entered to Hermione being checked out by Madam Pomfrey and Ron sleeping peacefully on a bed next to her. When they walked in, Madam Pomfrey immediately abandoned Hermione in favor of directing Dumbledore to set Harry on an empty bed and checking him over. She briefly called over her shoulder to Faye to sit on the bed next to Hermione.
After that, it was a blur. Professor whisked himself out and Professors Snape and McGonagall appeared. Professor McGonagall seemed guilty she had brushed them off, and Professor Snape was glaring at them. It was only after Madam Pomfrey released them that Faye remembered she had tucked the stone into the pocket of her robes. She told Hermione and Ron – who had woken up after Madam Pomfrey finished checking over Harry and deemed him stable – that she was going to go find one of the Professors. She turned and rushed back to the Hospital Wing, almost running into Professor Snape as she did so.
"Miss Adder, what exactly are you doing?" He drawled, glaring at her.
"Professor, I need to see Professor Snape, can you please direct me to his office?" She asked, looking up at him, but he just sneered.
"Absolutely no- "
"Severus! If the young lady needs to speak with me, by all means!" Professor Dumbledore had appeared from around the corner. "Shall we, Miss Adder?" His eyes twinkled as he beckoned her to walk with him.
"Professor," she started but he shook his head.
"I think this conversation is best left for the privacy my office, Miss Adder." Neither spoke until they reached a stone Gargoyle. Professor Dumbledore spoke the password "Lemon Drops" and they entered the tower.
"Professor," she continued once they were settled. "I still have the Philosopher's Stone." She held the stone out to him and he took it. Examining it.
