The next morning, Shawna didn't hold back at all as she talked the both of our ears off at the kitchen table.

"I mean, Hawaii itself was just beautiful in every way! From the green mountains to the clear blue ocean! Oh! And the people there. They were so sweet and friendly and the food was just amazing! I did miss you both, but what I would do for a few more days there in paradise!"

While she continued to talk, I couldn't stop thinking about how she lied to Wren, making him believe that he was the reason for the unsuccessful attempts at a baby, but I knew it would be wrong of me if I changed my views on her because of it. It was what happened between the two of them; their marriage. I was in no place to judge.

Wren, who had half of his attention on his wife and the other on his phone, nodded his head and added a comment whenever needed. My attention was more focused on the plate of food in front of me.

"..So the second shoot was in the tropical forests of Honolulu. They covered me in mud and I had to pose on top of this large boulder. It was just amazing! I'll have to call my manager for the shots. I haven't seen them yet but I know they turned out great. Babe, do you notice anything different about me?"

Wren held the phone a bit closer so that he could see whatever he was looking at on his screen better.

"Warren?" Shawna called again, her tone sounding concerned.

"Y-yes?" Wren responded, blinking his eyes and then turning to face Shawna.

"Were you listening to me?" Shawna asked politely. Her perfectly arched eyebrows knitted together.

"Of course I was, honey," he replied with a a forced smile. "Hawaii is beautiful and the people there are friendly," his attention was soon back on the phone in his hand.

Shawna sighed. "Warren," she purred. "I asked if you noticed something different about me."

Wren looked at Shawna. After a few seconds of him analyzing her he said, "Well, you look darker, I'm guessing you caught a good tan."

"Look again, Warren," Shawna replied sounding agitated. "It's my hair. It's straightened and it hasn't been straight since our wedding."

Wren picked up a lock of her hair between his thumb and pointer finger and twirled it. "Oh," he said in realization. "Not sure how I didn't notice it."

"Well, you did notice my tan and that was a result of hours of shooting in the sun. As for my hair, I had no choice but to straighten it for one of the shoots. I like it though," she shrugged and smiled.

"Me too," Wren agreed. "So, Shawna, you were scheduled to come back this afternoon. We weren't expecting you to come back a day earlier," he added, sounding a bit nervous. He wasn't the only one. If she had walked in any sooner things would have taken a turn for the worst.

"Our original flight had gotten canceled so we had to fly out a day earlier than planned. It's alright though, I've missed you so much sweetheart and our baby!"

"Well, we're glad you made it back, and safely at that," Wren said, putting the phone down and using his fork to to dab at a piece of omelette.

"So, what have you two been up to?" Shawna asked, copying Wrens actions.

"Nothing," Wren and I said simultaneously and way too quickly at that.

Shawna glanced up from her plate at the two of us. She looked amused.
