Bowling with claws

I sighed and got out of bed turning my alarm off stretching. I rubbed my eyes sleepily as I looked at the time. Huh 10 in the morning I figured mom and dad would be bursting down the door now. Just as I thought that my door swung open and in came my mom and dad with a birthday cake in there hands with a candle that had the numbers 17 on them already lit. "You guys..." I said blushing as they smiled. "Go ahead and make a wish honey." Mom said nodding to the cake her and dad held. I nodded and held my long hair back as I blew out the candles. I want something more out of life than school and clubs I want an adventure. I wished as the candle went out and mom and dad hugged me happily. "Get dressed Artames is here to pick you up." Mom said walking out of the room as dad closed the door behind her. I smiled and looked at my mirror at all the pictures in the window frame of me and her doing crazy stuff together since the age of five. I smiled and shook my head and decided to get dressed. I chose a comfy outfit since I knew she would take me somewhere for my birthday.

I smiled in the mirror and walked out of my room and down the stairs into the kitchen where Artames sat talking to my mom about the plans she had today with me. "Let's go Artie!" I said walking to the front door. "Kay kay!" She said walking out of the front door as I opened it. "Love you mom dad! See you in a few!" I said and closed the door as Artamis sat in the driver's seat of her newly remodeled matte purple jeep her dad bought her for her birthday two weeks ago. I climbed into the passenger seat buckling up. "So where are we going?" I asked and she smiled. "That's for me to know and for you to find out." She said pulling out of our driveway and onto the street leading to the highway. "You know I hate secrets." I said sighing as she rolled her eyes. "Thats the point! It's a fun secret though!" She said turning onto the highway. "When you say fun it usually ends with us having to sneak out of a club." I said sighing remembering our last stunt. "Well this is different were meeting up with Scott and Zack at the bowling alley. So kind of like a double date but not. You know what I mean?" She said smiling. I blushed and looked at her. "Artames Kate Windrow you did not just double date bomb shell me! You know how I feel about Zack since that day." I said out of frustration. "Chill it'll be fun plus I bet he forgot about your little love confession in 9th grade." She said calmly and I huffed remembering that terrible day.

*That day in 9th grade*

"Zack can....can I talk to you?" I asked him when he got to the classroom door. "Sure what's up? Is something wrong?" He asked and we stepped into the empty classroom. "I know I'm in a grade below you and all but, I....I just wanted to say I've liked you since we met in 8th grade!" I said closing my eyes and blushing deeply. Silence filled the room I decided to take a look. I seen him wide eyed looking at me completely shocked at what I had Just said. "Look Kate I....I don't feel the same way. I mean we can be good friends and all but I already have someone in mind." He said and I felt my heart break I didn't stick around to hear the rest I just ran out of the room and into the girls bathroom crying in one of the stalls for the rest of the day. I was in there since 5th period that's 5 out of 8. I just couldn't face anyone right then I was to humiliated. I walked home alone taking the back streets because Zack walked the same way I did because we lived two houses away from each other. Since that day I've avoided him every time he shows up I duck into a closet or under someone's skirt just to avoid him. Let me tell you it was hard work, now I know why I don't want to be a spy. Later that same year I found out he liked Sarah one of my friends and she liked him too. They started dating the end of that year all through summer she taunted me about having Zack all to herself. So one day I got sick of it and punched her in her face at the public playground. I haven't seen her since. Come to find out she was cheating on him and after her dad found out about her being a bitch to me they moved after she got expelled from the school for cutting a teacher's cheek when he asked how she got the purple eye that first day back at school.
