I'd never felt such a big wave of panic as I did in this moment. My heart was pounding and I wasn't really sure why yet-- I mean, nothing had happened but the feeling of unease just kept tugging at my sleeve and I heard a little voice in my head whisper his name to me.
"Rowen," it said. My feet reacted faster than my brain could and suddenly I was pushing through the crowd of people, the moisture from their sweaty bodies collecting on my hands as I forced them out of my way. The knot in my stomach was getting tighter and tighter and it felt like I was going to vomit, but my legs wouldn't let me stop.
I turned a corner down an alley way and that's where I saw him. Hunched down in the corner between a wall and giant brick building. A man was standing over him, a man much taller than him. My heart was pounding.
What do i do?
My breathing was coming out in heavy spurts.
Help him.
My eyes caught the glint of a knife in the mans hand and everything stopped.
If I don't act fast he will kill Rowen.
"Don't touch him."
