                        -Tylers POV-

"Get there by 6."

" Wait, but it's alread..."

He ended the call. I took a quick glance at my watch and noticed it was already 5:30!

Delirious you fucking basterd!!

"Where are my car keys fucking at!" I wasn't at all prepared for this, and I hated that. I tore off all the couch cushions, searched the counter, and double checked all of my bedroom.

5:39 p.m

I'm gonna be so Fucking late! Come on keys!

Finally after rechecking the bathroom for the third time I saw them, the dumb things lying on the floor. I mumbled a string of cuss words at them and hurriedly rushed out the door to his truck.

I should be able to make it if I take a short cut through the Old Donavan Road.

I only knew of it because of Delirious, since he wanted me to know every possible route in case something happened. The road was narrow and I had a tough time keeping my own vehicle on it more or less trying to pass someone.

5:57

I quickly checked my watch. Fuck.. fuck. FUCK!!! I made sure my car was locked and hurried inside.

Inside it smelt like coffee and cleaner, the whole atmosphere seemed, dull. No one even seemed to notice I'd even came in, odd. I made sure to keep a fast pace to the back room where the sheriff was quietly waiting. The sheriff had a nervous expression but had an angry tap going. I didn't care.

"Sorry I'm late.." I said, I tried hard not to breath to heavy. He didn't seem to care, or at least didn't show it.

"Here are some necessities, like a uniform, badge, etc..., if another cop happens to ask who you are, say your only a fill in for Margaret Janet. She went off on a cruise yesterday." He gave me a bag and shuffled me to a restroom.

I know he didn't know it but I could have found it on my own. It bothers me when people say the obvious. I never got along with that man, hopefully Delirious doesn't trust him either. Nonetheless I changed from my clothes into the uniform, it felt like I was in some play for cops n robbers or something.

I sighed as I placed the fake badge on and quickly glanced at the fake ID before sliding them both in my wallet. The last thing was the pistol carefully lodged into my side belt.

Jerrid Knickerson huh?

A knock came from outside.

"Hey, are you all done? Mr. Knickerson your needed in the other room." Today's gonna be a long day..

I sighed, making sure to fix my uniform once more, and then leaving.  Elmsford was already gone, probably off to lunch, like always. I shook my head and went straight across the narrow hall into the other room. A guy was in there hunched over sulking.

How annoying can you be? Delirious doesn't have much to worry about over him.

"Hello Craig, my name is Jerrid Knickerson but, please just call me Nick alright." I wasn't expecting much of a response, heck he was still trying to cover up his tears. He sniffled a bit, took a few tissues, and solemnly nodded. Well thank the Lord we're on the same page.

"I'm gonna need you to walk me through what happened before yesterday, before the police came over and checked everything out." I took a seat and picked up my clipboard, I need to be sure I get everything. I made sure I watched his facial expressions, his body language, and the way he seemed to nervously rock back and forth.

"He.. he's just dead.. my best friend is dead isn't he?" He looked me straight in the eye. Maybe I should say yes so he'd actually have a reason to cry.

"No, he's not dead, you can't just assume that you know. We've got the whole team together looking for this friend of yours, I'm gonna need to hear the story though." He sniffled, he snuffled, and he used his damn sleeve as a tissue. I gave him the whole box. After a moment Craig seemed to calm down slightly, he fixed his crooked glasses, rubbed his eyes, and finally got rid of all the disgusting snot rags.

Thank the heavens.

".. But, you've surely heard of Him though haven't you? Th-the killer.." He asked, he looked around nervously at even speaking of the topic. He should be. I jotted down a few notes on my clip board, Delirious would usually have me report any suspicious talk relating back to him but, he's already targeting Craig.

People end up dead around here.

"What's his chance of being alive.." His eyes were just pouring tears again, he got himself all worked up again. He went back to rocking and he wrapped his arms around himself. I shook my head.

"Like I told you before, we've already got a team out looking for him, we sent out an amber alert, he will probably be in the news in a few days to confirm that he is in fact missing." I replied, he calmed down a little, finally taking in my fake words. He's manipulative I must say, that may be useful.

"Evan wasn't at school.. for a day," He paused only to blow his nose. "I spent the night with him only two days earlier and.. I don't know if I should mention this but, I felt like I was being watched.." He trailed at the end avoiding eye contact. I jotted a note down.

Suspicions

"Go on." I was honestly curious as to what he was about to say, Delirious may of been spotted.

Instead he looked down at his phone for the time. Shit..

"I'm really, really sorry but I should've been home 30 min ago. I can't stay and it's already dark outside, you know how unsafe that is." I narrowed my eyes at him, what was the rest of his story? I couldn't just let him leave but he was practically already packing up all his things.

"Wait! Before you leave, have my number, you know, incase anything happens. You do have a ride home don't you?" I stood up and got right in front of him and the door, this only made him more nervous. I handed him my number.

"Th- thank you but I really must be going, I don't have a ride but you don't have to worry about that, I don't mind walking." He replied as he backed up a bit, He felt cornered I guess.

"Hey, it'd be my pleasure. I'm sure Mr. Ol' Elmsford wouldn't mind me leaving early anyway." I gave a soft smile towards him and he just stared. His eyes were wide in shock.

"..are.. are you sure?" He asked uncertainly glancing from me to the door behind me. I half expected him to just bolt and take off running, I took my chances  though. I nodded and his face lit up as he exchanged a toothy smile. I'll have to gain a bit more trust later down the road.

I shuffled him out the way I came and out to my car. How stupid could someone really be to follow a complete stranger in a car? A cop not cop.

"Thank you for taking me home, this part of town is pretty bad at night to be honest..." He broke the silence with his buckle and I asked him where too.

"Oh, just past JJ highway, you'll have to turn right at the Sonic on that gravel road, It's really not too far." He smiled at me again, not a hearty smile but it was exceptibal. I just nodded and continued my way down the road.

I felt my phone buzz and I knew it was Delirious checking in. He'd just have to wait a bit. It did feel good to be doing something different after only being able to get contracts and requests for Delirious. I liked change.

"Is this the gravel road?" I asked.

"Huh? Oh.. yeah that's the one, it's the third house on the right." He replied with a long yawn and I finally felt how tired I was myself.

His house was definitely smaller than mine but, it had a home atmosphere. There were wind chimes along the porch, flowers and trees along the yard, and lightening bugs flew through it all.

"I'd like to thank you again... Nick was  it?" I nodded.

"Hey, don't sweat it I don't mind getting out and driving every now and then." We exchanged a smile and I waved him off. Then everything just kind of moved slowly, the air, the lightening bugs, and my mind for a moment as I watched him go.
