"Interesting." Hammin smirked. "Very out there."
"You really think so?"
Abby was wearing a bright green dress covered in ruffles.
"Yes. It's quite different." Laughed Hammin. "But, why to the mall?"
"I like dressing up when I go to the mall." Blushed Abby.
Hammin raised his eyebrow. "Or is there a man you like who works there?"
Abby's eyes widened. Then she laughed. "You're one good detective."
Hammin laughed too. "You don't have to be a detective to see that you dressing up and looking in the mirror to make sure you look good is connected with trying to impress either yourself or someone else. I know you already feel great about your appearance. And I know that someone you're trying to impress isn't me. Also, you were biting your lip and blushing when I asked you why you were wearing a dress to the mall. You do that every time you lie."
"Whatever. I'm bad at lying to people." Abby rolled her eyes. She grabbed her phone off the table hastily and looked at the time. She tossed her phone on the couch. "It's 12. I gotta go. See you later." She picked up her purse and slung it over her shoulder.
Hammin went back to reading the news as the front door slammed. About 30 minutes passed. He was rereading the sports section when his phone started vibrating in his pocket. He took it out, and picked it up.
"Hello. Yes, this is Hammin. Yes. Really? This early? Where?"
His eyes widened. "The mall? Yes, I'll be right there."
He hung up the phone quickly and prayed under his breath. "Please don't be Abby."
