I watched as flower petals began to rain gracefully down on the dancing bodies. I couldn’t remember a time where I had felt so free and alive and laughed aloud at the joy I felt from moving with these strange creatures. These fairies. Fairies, something I had never really quite believed in before meeting Gregory. I looked up at him in curiosity as he spun me around the clearing. The music spinning a web so enchanting I found myself forgetting my last name.
He gave me a confused look, “What are you looking at love?”
“You’re beautiful, you know that?” It was more of a statement than an opinion, with his strong jaw, sun kissed skin, pouty pink lips, and eyes that contained shades of green that you would only find in a rainforest he was breathtaking.
He started to laugh at my remark but I wound my fingers through his thick brown hair and crushed his lips to mine, silencing him. The wine I had consumed throughout the night was making me bold and all I wanted to do was devour him. He kissed me back with half the force but equal the passion and I moaned as he pressed his body closer to mine. This is what I wanted, him, I wanted all of him but before I could protest he pulled away and spun me into the arms of another fairy. I sighed but Nissa’s giggling was impossible to ignore and soon enough I found myself giggling as she began to twirl around me.
“I’m so glad you’re here tonight, I’ve missed you so much!” She stopped twirling and threw her arms around me.
Her embrace became painful, “Nissa, too hard.” I gasped out.
She stepped back quickly and looked up at me with her big doe eyes, “Sorry!” she giggled. She looked so innocent in that instant that I couldn’t bear to be angry with her.
“It’s alright Nissa just remember you’re a lot stronger than I am.” My words had begun to slur together due to the dancing and the drinking. My head was deliciously fuzzy and I couldn’t think straight. NIssa's dancing became a blur and next thing I knew I was back in Gregory’s arms but instead of dancing he was carrying me.
I nuzzled into his chest, “I want to stay.” I said while my eyes started to drift shut.
He chuckled and kissed the top of my head, “You need to sleep, and you have school in the morning.”
I yawned and rubbed at my heavy lidded eyes, “I’m not even sleepy, I just want to dance.” but even while I was saying it I felt myself drift in and out of consciousness.
The last thing I remembered was him laying me down on my bed and whispering in my ear before everything went black and I fell into a blissful sleep dreaming of dancing feet and summer wine.
