To the best friend I've got on here who I don't know personally. You're gonna be fine, and this is dedicated to you because you are the best. :D I picked this song because it's kinda of describing Meghan right now, she doesn't know what way to go, it's like she's fallen down the rabbit hole! (Yes, I have an Addiction to Alice in Wonderland:)) I hope you like it, k kai, I'm gonna let y'all read it now, so enjoy:D
By the time I was finally able to stand, and was fever free, winter vacation was already half over. Christmas was in four days, there was still a week and a half left of Christmas break. Mom let me venture out onto the edge of the beach, but I wasn't allowed into the water. It was more that she forbid me, actually forbid me from going into the water.
The beach was deserted as I slowly walked along the shore, everyone who had the opportunity to get away was gone, and the tourists were up at the outdoor concert hall. There was a Rascal Flats concert, people had flown in from all over the place to see them preform. I enjoyed the peace and quiet; it gave me a chance to think about stuff. Hayllie was vacationing in Russia for the break, she fought with her mom to stay behind with me, but Renee wouldn't have it.
"Meghan's sick, Hayllie. You've got to let her rest."
The argument was settled at that, Hayllie couldn't say anything else. She tried hiding out at my house, but her mom found her right away. Therefore dragging her stubborn daughter out to Russia, how tragic, for an entire three weeks! I called Hayllie the night before her return; we talked for almost an hour.
"How's Russia, missing the sun and the beach yet?" I asked jokingly, I heard her raspy voice on the other end,
"Oh my gosh, YES! There's so much snow here, and it's super cold! I want the sun and the beach, come and rescue me, Meghan! I'm begging you; please take me away from this severe ice land!"
I laughed at her dramatics. I then realized how quiet the beach was, now that Hayllie wasn't home and having parties almost every weekend. Missing her was too much,
"How much longer are you going to be in Russia?" I asked, like a young child asking his or her parents how long they're going to be on a business trip. I couldn't stand her being so far away, I hate missing my friends.
"We're on our way to lunch now. Mom says that we’re gonna spend a couple more days here, then we’ve got a connecting flight in Greece, then another one in New Jersey, we’ll hopefully be home by Thursday night. Stop worrying, we’ll be home on Christmas Eve.
"I'm not worrying, yet. Just come home safely."
Hayllie laughed,
"You're funny, I gotta go. Talk to you later, Meghs. Bye."
The phone clicked, and then she was gone. While I walked I thought about that conversation that Hayllie and I had, I looked at my watch, it was only noon. Several more hours before their plane landed. I wouldn’t see her until eight or nine on Thursday. Walking towards the Board Walk, I wanted to see if any of the new rides were up. Even though Hidden Hills was a small town, there were several hundred people who vacation here, with the beach, shopping, and the Board Walk. I’ve already explained it, but for some reason the tourists love the quaint little place.
I brushed the sand away I as walked up the old wooden steps. The Walk was practically deserted, just the perfect time for me to get ice cream at the best place in California; The IceCream Shoppe. The bell tingled as I walked into the air conditioning.
“Welcome to the IceCream Shoppe, the best ice cream in the state.” the server said from behind the counter. She looked bored, really bored, but wouldn’t you if you had to stand behind a counter for no one all day. There was a hint of an accent in her voice, it sounded English, and she spoke too quickly for me to be sure.
