Book: Charity Case... Original Story
Chapter 2: Rules And Regulations
Word Count: 1650When the two arrived at the house, Alec couldn't help but look around. Of course Pierce lived in a neighbourhood that looked like everyone knew everyone. The house was pretty impressive to. Double story and a nice maintained yard. He pulled the strap of his bag higher up his shoulder uncomfortably. Everything was so... cookie cutter. He hadn't even noticed Pierce was already at the front door until he heard his name being called.
He snapped out of his thoughts and moved forward, up the pathway and the porch steps. As soon as he reached the door, Pierce opened it. It was as if something was holding Alec back from going in. He sighed loudly and pushed that feeling away, stepping in. The house, from what he could see, was completely spotless. No mess at all. Pierce shrugged off his jacket and hung it up on a hook. "Welcome to your new home for the next couple weeks."
Alec nearly cringed at the word home. He hadn't had a home since he was nine and he wouldn't have one until he was out of the foster system. A woman came from around the corner, her blonde hair in a loose ponytail and a smile on her face. "Hello sweetheart." She said to her husband, not noticing the boy standing behind him.
"Hello beautiful." Pierce greeted back, kissing her on the lips for a short second before turning towards Alec. She looked at him with confusion. "This is Alec. He'll be staying with us for a while. Alec, this is my wife Samantha."
Her face went through a lot of different emotions, but one stood out to Alec. Anger. She was obviously angry that her husband had brought a stray home. Alec had a feeling that he wouldn't be staying at this house for very long. Samantha grabbed a hold of her husbands arm and gave him a look, "oh, um, can I talk to you in private for a moment?" It was more of a demand then a question.
Pierce looked at Alec in apology. "I'll be right back."
Alec watched the couple leave the room and he already knew that she was snapping at Pierce, then Pierce would walk back out, mutter another apology and take Alec back to the station until he found another house. He just wished they would hurry it up. While he waited he decided to have a look around. Why not? He had nothing better to do.
He didn't know where he was going but he just walked forward, entering what he assumed was the loungeroom. It wasn't small, but it wasn't large either. It was... quaint. With a couple couches and a tv. He plopped down on the couch, throwing his bag to the side. He saw the remote for the tv just sitting on the table in front of him. Pierce and Samantha were taking their sweet time, so he leaned forward, grabbed the remote and turned on the tv. The first thing he saw, was something that looked like a vampire. He rolled his eyes, he wasn't into vampire shows unless every vampire was evil. He didn't care about the vampire love stories.
He flicked through the channels, not finding anything that caught his attention. He sighed and pressed the off button on the remote. Unfortunately, there were no cracks in the ceiling that he could count or make dicks out of.
