There's something there.
Taehyung's not sure what it is, but it's there. A presence to this girl - a girl that he's just only now seen through his computer screen.
Jennie Kim, he repeats, not sure what it is that plagues the very name that crosses his mind.
To be frank, he found that Jennie Kim wasn't exactly his type. Blackpink, as he recalls was the name of the group that Jennie's from, is a group that he personally finds similar in style. They have a style, just like every other group, but it's one that he respects. The type of style that seems almost stylized specifically for the group in question - it's impressive, really.
Even for his own group, they had to go through a bit to find the style they fit the most. It's fluctuating, sure, everyone experiences that, but it's their style.
So for a rookie group to obtain such an accomplishment - well, it's certainly something.
So maybe that's why he's researching their members. Maybe that's why he finds himself so drawn to the group - out of mutual respect.
(but can it be mutual if he has no idea what the other side feels about his own group?)
Taehyung ignores the rather flippant, rhetorical question that floats through his headspace, if even for a second.
Sure, that would explain a lot, but would it explain what he's feeling?
It's not butterflies in his chest, it's not a flutter in his heart and it's not a bedeviling feeling settling in the pit of his stomach.
Rather, it's a euphoric feeling of contentedness and untapped relief that he's not entirely sure is coming from.
There are millions of thoughts speeding through Taehyung's mind, the rather unsettling feeling of the unknown settling itself into his mindset, but a knock on his door pulls him out of his muses and he brings the cursor to the glaring red 'x' box at the corner of the screen. A swift click is all it takes for his contemplations were tucked away into the same place Taehyung files his unnecessary reminisces.
"Taehyung, it's time to eat," Jungkook reminds, peeking his head through the crack of the doorway, looking expectantly at Taehyung.
Taehyung replies with a silent smile formed on his lips as he hoists himself out of the desk chair.
He ignores voices in his head, voices too quiet to be coherent and walks out of his room, following Jungkook.
Ignorance happens to be one of the things Taehyung excels in.
-
There's a pause in every breath that he takes whenever he thinks about her.
He chuckles at the thought, his own body language lining up perfectly with the disarray playing out in his head. He's not entirely sure about... well, everything.
Taehyung's had his passing fancies for a few idols, one case being Twice's Sana before he found out she was dating one of her own members, Momo. He wasn't particularly disappointed perse, but he beat himself up for doing the one thing he abhorred the most; falling in love.
Frankly, he didn't really love Sana, maybe it was just one of those cliches where he was in love with the idea of her, but he doubted it. Again, it was a passing fancy - a crush you had for a week before you realized it wouldn't really work out, whether it be your decision or not.
Besides, he's happy that Sana's found someone that makes her happy. (There's a yearning feeling there that Taehyung decides to ignore; he hates falling in love, so why wish for it?)
So Taehyung's not sure.
Not sure why he's so fixated on this girl, why he feels a pang of melancholy whenever he looks at her, he's just... not sure.
Maybe he's losing his mind.
He deduces that Jennie is most definitely not a witch, but he can't exactly come up with any other reason as to why she's been invading his headspace.
He's not sure how much longer he can hold up.
-
"Taehyung, have you been feeling okay?"
It's another time, another moment, another instance wherein Taehyung finds himself entranced with Jennie.
He hates it.
"It's nothing, just spacing out, you know?"
There are eyes brimming with concern, but a silence drapes itself over the seven members and nothing else is said.
Taehyung's thankful.
-
It's a pit. A pit of self-pity and resentment and Taehyung's not entirely sure how one girl managed to toss him into said pit so quickly. There are days where he finds himself staring at the ceiling, contemplating what's already been contemplated, the silence is a nice filler to the endless string of thoughts he had.
He tries to hate her, but it's almost impossible.
He tried to forget her, but it's rather difficult for him to forget the years prior to debut. To a girl he found speaking in broken Korean, trying to figure out where a convenience store was.
He tried to forget his warm smile towards her and a wave of contentment and relief overpowering the worry that flooded her eyes.
He tried to forget the walk to the convenience store, her shy and timid thanks being exchanged, her smile, her everything.
And he did forget.
Just thoughts, memories, washed up and scratched out faces and places that he ended up losing track of, but there was always just one thing he couldn't shake out of his head.
He forgot almost everything about Jennie, but he could never forget her essence.
And so, she remained in his thoughts, even if it be a vague, misty remembrance of a girl who wanted to buy honey butter chips for her mother.
So he figures out what the something is and why it's there.
Now he needs to figure out what to do with it.
